ROBERT (BOB) RONALD SIMMONS Bob passed suddenly at home on March 21, 2015 at the age of 91. He is survived by his three children, Patricia Edwards (Colin), David and Christopher as well as his grandchildren Neil, Carolyn (James), Jessica and Joseph and his sister Betty. Bob left school at the age of 16 as war broke out. As he was too young to enlist he worked with the London fire brigade as a messenger (his father was the fire chief) all through the Blitz. At age 18 he enlisted in the RAF and was trained as a signaler and navigator. Bob emigrated from England at age 60 and started a new full life. He worked for several years as a salesman and upon retiring starting working at his hobby, gardening, at the Children's Rehab Centre. For many years he volunteered with the Winnipeg Police and was very active in Kinsmen; he initiated and ran the Parka's for the Penniless programme as well as serving on the executive. A Celebration will be held at Chapel Lawn on Portage Avenue at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the MS Society, Winnipeg Chapter.
