Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORNE AVERY TORBERT It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lorne Torbert on Monday, March 23, 2015. Born to Donald and Norma Torbert on January 10, 1964 in Berea, Ohio and came to Gimli in 1972. Lorne was predeceased by his father Donald in 2006. He is survived by his soulmate, Andrea Campbell, his son Berrie, his mother Norma Torbert (Isfjord), his sister Debbie Mate (Ken), his niece Kendra Mate (Matthew) and his nephew Paul Mate, also Andrea's children, Lauren (Kevin), Matthew (Cindy) and little Olivia, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A memorial service will take place at the Gimli Lutheran Church on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Gimli Lutheran Church Defibrillator Project, P.O. He was a wonderful person – kind and caring as well as a loving and patient father to Berrie. I first met Lorne at my other buddy's grandfather's funeral, but I heard plenty of stories of Lorne, and what they did as buddies together. When meeting him for the first time, I clicked with him and found Lorne to be a very nice guy & had a good sense of humor. I'm sorry to hear of his passing, and I wish to offer my deepest condolences to Norma, Andrea and the entire family on the loss of this truly nice man. I will always remember the time we spent together at your house in Teulon on a beautiful summer day. We had a great dinner then toured the property you created and developed, and showed off its unique features. I have a picture of Andy and Lorne from that day that I'll always cherish.
