JAMES LESLIE SMITH August 30, 1940 - March 26, 2015 It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts the family announces the sudden passing of James Smith, of Lockport, MB, on March 26, 2015, at the age of 74. James will be lovingly remembered and so sadly missed by all of his family. He was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle and great friend!! He was predeceased by his one and only true love, his wife Shirley (nee Burnett) Smith. He leaves behind his four wonderful children Kim Smith, Tammy Fawcett (Tim), Liz Smith (Dwight) and James Smith Jr. (Crystal); his memory will also be cherished by his 20 grandchildren Michael (Sheena), Candace (Jorden), Tamera (Hogan), Madisson, Sarah (Todd), Scott, Bobbie, Reiley, Shania (Roland), Cole, Skylar, Emma, Julien, Ashton, Denzell, Dauntay, Danica, Darius, Delani, Dawson; also four beautiful great-grandchildren Owen, Cassidy, Gwendalynn, and Bentley; he is also survived by his brother Archie and sister Marion. Would like to also mention a couple of very close family, cousin Val Martin, and her daughter Kendra Martin, and Kendra's daughter Hannah, who will truly miss her Papa. He was predeceased by his father Les Smith and mother Myrtle Smith. James was born and raised in Birtle, MB, then moved to Winnipeg, he finally resided in Lockport. He worked for a trucking company started in 1969, until he retired in 2000 for Allied Trucking, James was a very dedicated man in everything he did for family and friends and his job, James had his heart in it all the way.... After the passing of the love of James' life, soulmate Shirley James, followed a new passion, his beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. James really enjoyed spending time with family, no matter how long or how short, always loved the company. Also he loved travelling with his son (Jamie) as he was a truck driver, he would go on trips from time to time, James had another pleasure!! He loved going out with the other kids Kim, Liz (Dwight) to the casino for an evening on occasion. These are the things our Dad and Father did and always will hold so dear to himself in his heart. • Thank you grandpa for being a great man, and a great example of the kind of man a man really should be. You were honest, hard working, and you were most importantly a very loving person. You were one of the sweetest men I have ever met, and I am so thankful for being so fortunate to say you are my grandpa. You taught me so many important lessons in life that I will always cherish in my heart and I will always remember you are the type of person who I will always aspire to be. Your great ambitious character is something I will always remember. <3 - Posted by: sarah (granddaughter) on: Mar 31, 2015
