Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONARD HAROLD GOWER June 1, 1921 - March 12, 2015 Leonard Harold Gower passed away peacefully at Deer Lodge Personal Care Home on March 12, 2015 at the age of 93. Leonard is predeceased by his wife Verna, son Wayne and daughter Belinda. He leaves to cherish his memory Jean Garrett, sons David (Stella), Richard (Kathy) and daughters-in-law Brenda and Susan, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, sisters Irene Finkbeiner and Eleanor Winthrop, many nieces and nephews and his Angel Caregiver Agnes. Leonard was born in Snow Flake, Manitoba in 1921 and moved to Kelwood at the age of 11. Leonard married Verna Ball of Arden, MB. on December 18, 1941. He enlisted in 1941 and served until 1946 in the Armed Forces during the Second World War. Leonard served as a sergeant overseas with the Manitoba 12th Dragoons, 12th Battalion, Armoured Car Division. He returned home and moved from Kelwood to Transcona, where they raised their four children. He worked as a carman at the Canadian National Railway. They then moved out to the country to Anola, Manitoba, where he enjoyed raising his horses and working the land. He retired from the Railway after 39 years of service and started enjoying many winters as a snowbird in Arizona. Leonard was a hard working man who loved his family, his animals and his garden. As per his wishes there will be no service only a family interment at Glen Eden at a later date. www.seasonsfunerals.ca
