MADELEINE VAUCLAIR (nee SCHINDLER) It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Madeleine Vauclair (nee Schindler), beloved wife of the recent deceased husband, Henri Vauclair. Madeleine peacefully passed away at the Villa Youville in Ste. Anne, Manitoba at the age of 102. Madeleine was born in Vassar, Manitoba, March 17, 1913. Though not having any children of her own Madeleine was a caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt. Madeleine was predeceased by husbands, John Boiteau, and Henri Vauclair, parents Rose and August Schindler, brothers Charles, Floyd and sister Lillian, three brothers-in-law Joseph Hovorka, Don Wohlwend and Lloyd Randklev. Remaining to forever cherish her memory are sons, daughters, grandchildren, sisters, Emma, Mildred and brother Raymond (Marlys), nephews, nieces and cousins. Her many careers in a very active lifetime included, Restaurant Manager, Second World War Volunteer, and care worker at the St. Amant Centre. Madeleine was very well known for her volunteer fundraising ability in the Richer Community achieving top seller of raffle tickets on more than one occasion for the Richer Young at Heart Club. Madeleine contributed much to the vitality of the Club and seldom missed an occasion. She enjoyed dancing and looked forward to playing dominoes every Wednesday with the Ladies. She participated and won many cribbage tournaments and had many friends who marveled at her terrific memory. Madeleine followed the life of family members very closely and was always first to support anyone in need. She loved to watch sports and cheered on her favourite players. Madeleine always saw the best in people. She always stood up for what she believed in while striving to do the right thing. Complaining was not in her vocabulary, was never afraid of hard work and got some good physical exercise cutting firewood alongside her husband Henri. She loved picking berries, gardening, canning, playing cards and most of all visiting family and friends. Although Madeleine appreciated living a simple life, she travelled extensively. Special thanks to the Villa Youville doctors, nurses and those staff who made a meaningful difference through all the stages of Madeleine's health care needs. We thank and appreciate God's "Special Angels", Sister Rioux and Sister Vermette for their compassion and prayers. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ste. I really did not know Madeleine for very long but in that short time I spent with her we discovered that she and my Dad, his brothers and sisters grew up not too far from each other. She was a very interesting person, had lots of stories to tell and was always very welcoming. Rest with the angels, you earned it. - Posted by: Teri Walker (friend) on: Mar 28, 2015
