I have known Mavis for over 25 years and we worked together for over 20 years. When I first met Mavis it was very clear that her and Darryl were going to be life long partners. The love and support they gave each other was undeniable. They were inseparable. There were many days that they each spent 16 hours keeping each other company while they each worked their 8 hour shifts, then go home together and be back in the morning. Mavis was so loyal that she and Darryl followed me from stations in St. James, Ft. Richmond and finally River Heights, where we as a team were the only Esso in Canada to receive the top award for 10 straight years. Mavis' customer service was always a WOW factor. She knew all the customers by name and memorized their cigarette brands and always had them ready on the counter for them. Mavis' compassion and ability to listen when customers were going through their own personal tragedies made her loved and respected. Mavis always adopted the new young staff that we hired, and has remained friends with all of them. Hence the nickname MOM! She was always there to listen and offer some Motherly advice. My last visit with Mavis at Riverview, she was sitting on the recliner and Darryl was so lovingly caring for her, rubbing her feet and legs, when I left the room I was comforted by the feeling of such love that they had for each other and the knowledge that Mavis knew how much she was loved and cherished. We should all be so lucky to have that kind of relationship. Mavis...............you will be truly missed. I love you - Posted by: Glenn (co-worker) on: Apr 07, 2015

My neighbour, Mavis was a gentle soul who showed great courage as she lived with tremendous physical challenges. My sincere condolences to her husband Darryl and family. May her grandchild Anikan grow up knowing how his grandma dearly loved him, and how she spoke of wanting to live to be a part of his life. May "Love endures forever" be a part of her legacy. - Posted by: Roz () on: Apr 07, 2015

Mavis you brightened everyone's day that crossed your path in life and at the store. You also had a knack for coming up with awesome nicknames for all of the staff. You will be greatly missed!! - Posted by: Jason (Friend and Co-worker) on: Apr 07, 2015
