EDITH CARMAN (nee MCKAGUE) March 22, 1944 - February 21, 2015 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother Edith Carman on February 21, 2015. Edith was born on March 22, 1944 to Stan and Jessie (Dolly) McKague. She grew up on the family farm just outside of Inwood, Manitoba and she found great pleasure living on the farm and feeding the lambs. She went to a small country school, Hythe, and rode her horse, Night, to and from school, keeping her horse safe during the school day in a barn built by her father Stan. Edith later attended Inwood school for the rest of her education. As a teenager, Edith's love of homemaking became evident and her mother, Dolly, never had to clean the house while Edith was living at home. After finishing her education, Edith worked for the Red Cross and lived in Winnipeg, travelling throughout Manitoba and Northern Ontario. On March 25, 1967 Edith married her childhood sweetheart, Maurice Carman. Edith and Maurice were close friends growing up and their love for one another blossomed at a young age. Edith and Maurice were always together enjoying life and the many adventures it brought them. Edith and Maurice were blessed with two daughters, Dianna and Tracy, raising the girls in the Rockwood area until 1980 before moving to the farm southwest of Argyle. In between farming, Edith enjoyed many great family camping trips throughout Manitoba, western Canada and the U.S. Edith welcomed her son-in-laws, Ted Rothwell and Darryl Mann, into their family with open arms and she was so excited to be a grandmother. Michelle and Allison Rothwell and Nicholas and Felicia Mann enjoyed many special times with their grandmother on the farm, camping and at the many special family events that were celebrated throughout the years. Grandma was always there to cheer her grandchildren on in any activity they participated in. Retirement brought new adventures during the winter months in south Texas. Edith's winter home at River Ranch Resort in Rio Hondo, Texas was a place she truly loved and one where many great friendships were made. Moving to Stonewall in 2010 brought Edith great joy and she was thrilled to experience town life and to be closer to her daughters. Edith's love of entertaining, along with her keen sense of order made her the ultimate hostess and she took great pleasure in being known for having the cleanest place around. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Stonewall (315 2nd St. E.) followed by a celebration of Edith's life at the Stonewall Legion hall (459 Main St). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fire Fighters Burn Fund or to a charity of one's choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home 433 Main St. Stonewall 1-204-467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

  • I grew up in Inwood and have known Edith and Maurice my whole life. Seeing her with her baby lambs was a special moment. I was in their wedding party. Edith was one of those few truly nice and sweet persons. She loved to dance as a teenager and I was often her dance partner. When we met over the last 60 years she always was the same lovely person. I am so saddened that Edith is no longer with us and feel so sorry for her family. - Posted by: paul laporte (childhood friend) on: Apr 07, 2015
