TED CAMERON SMITH February 19, 1945 - March 31, 2015 Ted quietly passed away in the comfort of his own home on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in Lake Francis. Ted recently turned 70 years young and was looking forward to celebrating his 50th year wedding anniversary with his wife, Linda in April. Ted was born on a dairy farm and raised in Lake Francis. It was there he learned the value of hard work, became inventive as he faced obstacles in farming and developed a love of animals and farm life in general. When he met Linda, he was living in Winnipeg however, he never lost his love of the farm and he and Linda moved several times from Winnipeg back to the farm. Ted worked 39 years as a service technician for J.R. Stevenson. He took pride in solving problems for the company. He loved competing in various sports hockey, soccer, rugby and passed this love on to his children and grandchildren. Ted traveled the rodeo circuit and excelled as a rider. He loved horses his entire life, which prompted him to move back to Lake Francis in 2007 so he could care for his favorite horses, Mona and Jede on his own land. Ted was an avid hunter and could make deer or moose meat taste incredible. Ted was a devout Christian man who deeply loved the Lord. He was a strong independent worker in his occupation, with the youth at church, on his mission trip in the Philippines and on the farm. He will be remembered for his dedication, loyalty and willingness to help friends and family and for his many, many jokes. He easily made friendships and brightened any room he entered. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Linda of nearly 50 years, four children, Marino (Shannie), Angela (Roger), Dean, Shannon (Dan); nine grandchildren, Larissa, Emma, Kaden, Madisyn, Blake, Tessa, Colin, Morgan and Cameron; eight brothers, Marvin (Merna), Earl (Grace), Harvey (Joyce), Grant (Marilyn), Gordon (Hannah), Brian (Rosemarie), Dennis (Bessie), Gary (Fortune) and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves extended family Herman and Audrey Heuging and their children Curtis, Darren (Allison) and Anna (Jonah). Ted was predeceased by his mom, Eva in 1954, his dad Adolph in 1985, two brothers Eldon and Don and three sisters Geraldine, Helen and Loraine. The funeral service will be held outdoors at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8 at Lake Francis Cemetery. Lunch to follow indoors at 3:00 p.m. at Lake Francis Hall. • I am so very saddened to hear of Ted's passing. I grew up with an absent father, and so Ted Smith was a giant among men in my eyes as I observed how he cared for his family, and how he came to my family's assistance in different and numerous ways. His desire to help and encourage without fanfare left a deep impression on me. He was simply a good decent man. My memories of Ted are many, are good and are precious. I will cherish them always and I will miss him deeply. The Andres family was so very very fortunate to have had a friend like Ted. My heartfelt condolences to Linda and the rest of the family. - Posted by: VICTOR ANDRES (Friend) on: Apr 07, 2015
