HEATHER BORYS (nee BERARD) On April 9, 2015 at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, MB, Heather went to be with the Lord at the age of 66 years after a courageous battle with cancer. A caring, loving heart who will be deeply missed by her many friends and family. She is survived by her son Dean (Roxanne), grand-daughter, Lara, and sister, Marlene Zalewski (John). Born to Joseph and Lena Berard, Heather enjoyed a rewarding career as a dental hygienist before taking time away from work to raise her family. One of her great joys in life was the collection and sale of antiques for which she enjoyed setting up as a vendor at many shows and markets across southern Manitoba... "If it is to be sold because it is old, I'd like to be told". Later in life, Heather found great success as an apartment complex property manager and was particularly proud of her courtroom litigation' to recover unpaid rent. Heather made many friends throughout her life and truly cherished her time with all of them. Very special thanks to all of those friends who supported her through her treatments, and were there with her until the end. Thank-you also to Dr. Harris and the tremendous team at Grace Hospital CancerCare, and to Dr. Sochocki and the caring team on 3 North at the Grace Hospital. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, April 14th, 1:00 p.m. at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, with viewing from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Worked with Heather a number of years ago in the rental industry. She was always very friendly and outgoing - a lovely lady. My condolences to the family on their loss. - Posted by: Nicci De Ruyck (Co-Worker) on: Apr 14, 2015

I only recently became acquainted with Heather but loved how she lived for and loved the Lord and encouraged those around her in their pursuits and good works. She adored her son and granddaughter and glowed with pride when sharing photos and stories about them with us. In our few chats, she always encouraged us to not necessarily do the easy thing but to persevere in doing the right thing and that kind of support is rare and precious. Hugs from our family to hers at this incredibly difficult time. - Posted by: Heidi Loewen-Steffano (Friend) on: Apr 14, 2015

I'm so sorry to hear of Heather's passing. She was so welcoming when I first moved into the building, and we had some lovely conversations over the years. I will miss her warmth, kindness, and wonderful humour. Rest in peace, my friend. - Posted by: Cheri (Neighbour) on: Apr 13, 2015
