Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLIDIJA MARIJA CELIC 1935 - 2015 After a lengthy illness, it is with sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend Lidija Celic, age 79, on April 14, 2015. Lidija was predeceased by her parents Maria and Eligio and her son Josip. She will be forever remembered by her husband Josip, daughters Barbara and Lidija, sister Anka, granddaughters Ana and Ela (Hrvoje), great- granddaughter Eva, niece Andriana (Nebojsa), nephews Ognjen and Djordje, and great-nieces Katarina, Kristina and Sofia. Lidija was born and raised in Rijeka, Croatia and moved to Stuttgart, Germany in the early 1960s. It was there she met and married the love of her life Josip and together made their way to Winnipeg in June 1966. Lidija worked until 1984, when a back injury forced her to discontinue working. But she continued to enjoy the things she loved most - gardening, traveling, playing cards, needlepoint, bingo and babysitting. She will always be remembered for her loving smile and wonderful hugs, her generosity and her love of animals. Mass will be held on Thursday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 748 Keewatin Street. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave., followed by a reception at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. Flowers gratefully accepted, as are donations to the animal shelter of your choosing. Mama, we will love you always and miss you terribly, but we take condolence in the fact that you finally have peace and have returned to our loving Lord.
