Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDEBORAH MARY CURRIE (nee TIBBS) Born October 14, 1929 - Passed April 20, 2015 It is with very heavy hearts that our family announces the departure of our gentle wife, mother and grandmother Deborah. And just to be clear, it is pronounced DEB-or-ah, for all those believing that she preferred to be called Deb-OR-ah as she would have had you believe. For even through the stages of dementia, Deborah maintained her watch this . . . !' sense of humour like her dad and brother Bert - and she carried it to the end. Throughout, Deborah remained her gentle, generous, humorous self, and was able to recall the happy times spent on her travels with her Eaton's Retirement Group, and times with the Kildonan Canoe Club. Family and friends have always been important to Deborah and her thoughts were most often of them. Deborah was the last surviving child of Robert and Elizabeth Tibbs of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Deborah is survived by her husband George Harry Currie, children William George Currie (Valerie Price) and Elizabeth Deborah Currie. Deborah was a very proud grandmother to her one grandchild Elizabeth Roberta Lockyer White, born in St. John's, Newfoundland, and who moved to Winnipeg with her mom to be closer to Grandma and Grandpa in 2011. A memorial service will take place on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway Avenue. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Deborah's memory to The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or The Arthritis Society - Manitoba Division. Deborah's family would like to extend many thanks to the care and compassion shown by Dr. Pinette and the staff of River Park Gardens, where Deborah has resided since 2009. An extra special thank you to Nancy who was a caregiver in every sense of the word. You are so very missed Deborah / Mom / Grandma!
