IVY TULLOCH-BEAUMONT With saddened relief Mom passed peacefully away on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the age of 95 at Charleswood Care Centre. She was born in Willowbrook, SK on September 17, 1919 and was one of nine siblings. She met her first husband, Bert Tulloch from the Yorkton area, and they were married on February 26, 1941. Bert was serving in the RCAF at the time and was stationed at Brandon. At the end of the war, they went to Dunleath, SK where they operated a small general store and in 1950 moved back to Brandon and later, moved to Forrest, MB where they farmed until Bert died in a car accident in 1967. In 1970, she met her second husband, Gordon Beaumont, who farmed near Birch River, MB. They were married October 2, 1970. They retired from farming and moved to Swan River, MB in 1994 and unfortunately, Gordon passed away very suddenly on October 22. Mom remained in Swan River until 1996 when she moved to Winnipeg to be closer to family. She resided at The Westhaven until 2007 when failing health necessitated her move to Charlewsood Care Centre where she resided until her passing. Mom worked hard all her life and was always active in the various communities where she lived. The local curling club, 4-H Club, church and school all benefited from her volunteering. Mom was an Auxiliary member with RCAFA and the Legion. There were half a dozen foster babies that got a great start from Mom's early care. Mom enjoyed her big vegetable gardens for the bounty but loved her flowers for pleasure. She was always praised and appreciated for her good food throughout her life. Mom worked as a cook for 10 years at various hotels and the hospital in Brandon but her biggest cooking fans were her family and neighbours whether it was every day or special occasions. Mom was also an excellent seamstress and she shared that talent along with cooking skills as a 4-H Leader. Mom enjoyed travelling and with Gordon did so extensively to various Legion events particularly, when Gordon was President of the Manitoba Northwest Ontario Command. They also travelled to the UK and Continental Europe and spent their winters in Arizona. Mom's greatest success was as a devoted mother to her four children who are left to mourn her passing; Mildred, Moose Jaw, SK, Donald (Gail) Winnipeg, Dennis (Sharleen) Williams Lake, BC and Judy (Ray) Ottawa. Also, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister, Hazel Connaughton, brother-in-law, Jim Jotham, sister-in-law Jessie Pollock and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son-in-law, Don Kroshus, three sisters and four brothers. The family will gather at a later date at Brandon Cemetery for ash interment where Mom and Dad will be together again. If friends so desire, a donation honouring Mom can be made to the charity of their choice. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Next week marks one year since my Great Grandma Ivy passed away. I think about her a lot and miss her a lot. I remember when she was in the west haven and even when she was in the charleswood, how I would go visit her and help her out with a few things, and every time I went she would say "I've been waiting for you" I miss her very much and she touched my life in a way she never knew. I love you Great Grandma. Rest in Paradise. - Posted by: Alia Tulloch (Great Granddaughter ) on: Apr 11, 2016

  • Auntie Hazel called today to let me know your Mom's obituary was in the paper. I have been thinking of her, and all of you, a lot since I heard she passed away. What a difficult time for you - relief that your Mom is no longer suffering, but sad for the finality of her death. I have such fond memories of her, and whenever I think of her, the first thing that comes to mind is how beautiful she was, and how she was always smiling. One of my favourite cakes is a recipe I got from her - her carrot cake she called "Nurse's Cake". It's the best ever, and I think of her every time I make it. I hope you will have time to share your memories and laughs, and shed some tears together in Brandon. She is finally at peace. Take care.
