DONNA JEANNE DEELEY (nee WOODWARD) Peacefully, on Sunday, March 29, surrounded by family, Donna passed away at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was predeceased by her parents Martha and John, her husband Alf and a brother, Patrick. Donna will be sadly missed by her sisters, Joan (Norm) Shanas, Madeline (Brad) McKenzie, and her brothers, Tom (Dianna) Woodward and Dennis (Beverley) Woodward. She will also be lovingly remembered by her nephews Scott (Tamra) McKenzie, Robert Shanas and Duwayne (Heather) Woodward and a niece, Erin McKenzie as well as several great nephews and nieces. In addition, Donna is survived by two cousins in England, Marsh and Chris with whom she kept in touch. Donna was an avid sports fan who followed tennis, curling, figure skating, baseball and her beloved Toronto Blue Jays. She would travel to Minneapolis to take in a Jays game. She was also an avid reader and volunteered at the public library prior to taking ill. Donna enjoyed regular short trips to casinos south of the border with her friends and family. As well, Donna was a blanketeer' and knitted for Project Linus. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Cancer Care and GD6 in the Health Sciences Centre for the support and compassionate care they provided Donna. While flowers are gratefully declined, friends who wish to make a donation may consider Cancer Care Manitoba, the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of their choice. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Donna's life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, with reception to follow. A private family interment is planned.   • I had the privilege of working with Donna. She was an awesome co-worker. She had a great work ethic. I enjoyed sharing many laughs with her. We shared a mutual interest in sports, especially the Olympics. I will always think of her when I watch the Olympics. I will miss you Donna!   • I'm so incredibly sorry to hear of Donna's passing. I worked with Donna at the Heart & Stroke. She was a great co-worker and even better employee; we had lots of good laughs. I haven't seen her a lot since she left HSF but we always looked forward to our lunch catch-ups! She was an incredible woman with such a wonderful positive attitude. I will so miss her.
