Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERTA MARY (LEWIS) HODGINS June 8, 1931 - April 17, 2015 Alberta Hodgins passed away peacefully on April 17, 2015 with her family at her side. Alberta was predeceased by her parents Albert and Kathleen Lewis, sister Winnie Kenyon (Roy Kenyon), brother (Albert) Murray Lewis, brother-in-law Barney Moran, first husband Wilfred (Bill) Phillips and second husband Kenneth Hodgins. Survived by daughter Beverley Phillips (Howard Curle) of Winnipeg and sons Clifford Hodgins (Cyndi) of Round Rock, Texas, and James Hodgins of Kananaskis, Alberta, treasured grandchildren Nikki and Alex, sister Gerry Moran of San Francisco and sister-in-law Donna Hodgins of Winnipeg. Alberta leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews, and good friends. Alberta was born in Winnipeg and lived here her whole life. She fondly remembered her childhood in Fort Rouge. She spent most of her adult life in St. James and was a valued member of St. James Anglican Church for over 55 years. Since 2011 she called Thorvaldson Care Center her home. Mom enjoyed travelling and made many trips to visit relatives and friends. She had wonderful memories of visits to Europe and Hawaii with her sister Gerry. Although COPD restricted Mom physically, she remained alert and engaged until her brief final illness. She kept in touch with family and friends, avidly followed favourite TV series, read the Saturday newspaper cover to cover and completed all the Saturday crosswords. The family thanks all of Mom's relatives and friends for keeping in touch with her, and the visitors from St. James Anglican who meant so much to her. Thank you to the staff at Thorvaldson's for everything they have done for Mom over the last four years. Thank you to the ICU and fourth floor staff at Victoria General Hospital who cared for Mom in her final illness. A service was held on Wednesday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church, 195 Collegiate Street. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3A 1P6 or charity of your choice.
