LILIAN JEAN MACIVER (nee BALHARRY) January 25, 1941 - April 24, 2015 On Friday, April 24, 2015 my mother Lilian MacIver passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital at the age of 74 years. Lilian was predeceased by her mother Ruby Balharry (nee Peacey) and father William (Bill) Balharry, as well as her nephew Bill Balharry. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Harold and daughter Wendy. She is also survived by three brothers Bill and his family, Alex and Glen. Mom was employed as an executive secretary for CUPE Local 500. Once her career was complete she spent time between her home in Oakbluff and the cottage at Lake of the Woods where wildlife visited. Lilian enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed her four huskies and many cats. The family would like to thank Dr. Olson and the staff at Victoria Hospital for caring for my mom and making her comfortable in the last month of her life. She also expressed appreciation for the friends and family that were able to visit her. Thanks to Lyla, Judy, Margo, Bill and Carol, Alex, Gladys, Wendy and Doug for your support. Cremation has taken place. A Private Celebration of Lilian's Life will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully appreciated to be shared with Golden West Nursing Home. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • We were two 19-year-old girls, working in the same office. She was a kind and generous friend. I was married at 19 and my husband was from Red Deer, Alberta, so right after our wedding, in which she was my bridesmaid, we left for Alberta. I didn't know how to contact her, missed her, and we lost touch. My husband died five years ago, he was a sheet metal worker and somehow came in contact with asbestos, and died of cancer, suffered a great deal, as it eventually spread to his bones. I am now 75, have a son and a daughter. My son lives in Prince George, BC, involved in Forestry industry; they have two boys; my daughter is a teacher, has a son and a daughter, I am very proud of them all. I live in Sherwood Park, AB, where we had lived for many years. - Posted by: Lorna Martin ( nee Jansen) (Lil & I worked in the same insurance office, both 19. I married & moved to Alberta, feel so bad that) on: Aug 19, 2015
