JOHN BRIAN BURNS January 2, 1956 - April 16, 2015 Suddenly on Thursday, April 16, 2015, John aged 59, passed away at home. Predeceased by his parents John and Bernice (nee Matychuk) and brother Ron. He is survived by his sisters Pat, Shelly (David Duch); sister-in-law Jan; and nieces Shannon and Courtney. John was born in Virden, MB, lived in various rural communities in his youth until the family settled in Winnipeg. John graduated from Sisler High School and worked as a Computer Operator/Programmer for Compushare, Richardson's and The City of Winnipeg until his retirement. John had a huge interest in music which included Jazz, Blues, Rock, and Electronic. His quest at Christmas was to get just the right gifts for his family. Through his efforts, the family was able to try many different wines that he thoughtfully provided for holiday gatherings. Other interests included: reading all aspects of nutrition, fine dining, travel, cooking shows, The Food Network, late night shows, and comedy. John generously sent flowers to his Mom and sisters for special occasions. John also enjoyed Bandit the cat. As a young child, John really enjoyed going to both Grandma's and Grandpa's, fishing and observing nature. As teenagers Pat and John used to cruise McPhillips and Portage Saturday nights. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3T 9Z9 or to a charity of your choice. Thanks to the thoughtful neighbour's Pierre and Alan for what they have done. A special thanks to Joanne for all her help and for adopting Bandit.
