Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • My condolences go out to you and your family Mona. I have so many memories of our band The Heather-Belles and the Winnipeg City Pipe Band back in the good old days performing at so many functions. My thoughts will be with you tomorrow. • Very sad to hear of Jim's passing. While we haven't been close in recent years, I have many happy memories of Jean, Jim and Neil when we were young growing up in Elmwood. My condolences to you, Mona, and the family. - Barbara - Posted by: Barbara Marshall (Cousin) on: May 07, 2015

  • I went to school with all three of the Kids, Jim was very kind and loving Father. He always had time for them. My Mum gave Jim our old rototiller and I fixed his snow blower. My Mum missed them greatly as neighbors, she always mentions them especially when curling is on TV. - Posted by: Ken Kowaluk (Neighbor across the street) on: May 07, 2015

  • I was very sorry to hear of Jimmy's passing. He was a great guy always with a smile on his face. I spent many wonderful times with Jim on our numerous Pipe Band trips with the the Wpg. Police Pipe Band. When I was in uniform or plain clothes, policing, Jim sent us to hundreds of calls when he was the O.D. Operator Dispatcher. He was always our back up, checking on our well being when he hadn't heard from us in a reasonable time . Jim was an excellent drummer as well as being a good friend. He will be missed. I would like to be at his service but distance is now the enemy as I live in Kelowna,BC,now. - Posted by: Jack Reay (Friend and fellowBand member with Wpg. Police Pipe Band) on: May 06, 2015

  • So sorry to learn of Jim's passing. Jim and I joined the QOCHC Cadets and Pipe Band together, taking drum instruction from Jack Graham. I always enjoyed Jim's company. - Posted by: George Albert () on: May 06, 2015

  • JD was my first Supervisor in the WPS Comm Centre....and probably had the biggest impact on how to do the job RIGHT....not always the Procedure Way but the Right Way....always there to listen and to guide in away that made you feel that what you did was important for the caller or officer you were dealing with...had the old school gruff exterior but the kindest manner of dealing with those who worked with him....Thanks JD.....Rest Easy - Posted by: Mike Ewatski (Member of Jim's shift at the WPS) on: May 06, 2015
