GLADYS MARION PETLOCK February 19, 1922 - May 1, 2015 The Beirnes families are saddened to announce the passing of their aunt Gladys Petlock on May 1, 2015 in the Stonewall Hospital. Gladys was born in Narcisse and raised in the Rockwood area. After her marriage to Walter Petlock, they purchased a farm in the Rosser area in 1946, and became lifelong friends with their neighbours the Klimpke's. She worked at various jobs, including waitressing for the Bill Klimpke family. But what she enjoyed most was gardening, which she developed into a small business growing fruits and vegetables, with her specialty being growing gladiolas of many sizes and colours. Later she met Jack Breuer and they spent the winters at his apartment in Winnipeg and the summers out at her farm. Following Jack's passing she was able to move into the Lions Manor where she was so pleased with, and appreciative of, the home care help she received. Gladys was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by her only child, Lloyd Petlock in 1947, as well as parents William and Mary Jane Beirnes; sisters Dorothy Stephen and Winnie Harrison; brothers Russel, Lloyd, and Cyril. She leaves behind many nephews, nieces and friends all of whom have special memories of times spent with Gladys. Rest in peace Auntie. A memorial service will be held in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall, MB on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall 204-467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Auntie Gladys was a special person and will be missed greatly. We remember going to the farm as kids and helping her with her gardening which was one of her passions. Mom and Gladys would always go to Bingo at the St. Louie Hall in St. Boniface and play cribbage and bingo. Too many memories to mention as she was such an inspiration to us all. Miss you Auntie and love you always. - Posted by: Mark Harrison (Nephew) on: May 07, 2015
