KELVIN CLEO BROWN The family of Kelvin Cleo Brown sadly announces his passing on May 8, 2015 as a result of pulmonary fibrosis. Kelvin was born in Ridgedale, Saskatchewan April 15, 1927, the middle child of Cleo and Eleanor Brown. He left the farming life to pursue an engineering degree at the University of Saskatchewan and after graduating moved to Toronto. It was in Toronto and working for A.V. Roe Canada as an engineer on the Avro CF105 Arrow and the Avrocar, that dad met the woman who would become his wife, Elizabeth (Bette) Allen. This past February they celebrated 61 years of marriage. It was an exciting time in the aerospace industry and Kelvin loved traveling to the U.S. for discussions with the U.S. Air Force and manufacturers. When the government cancelled the Arrow program, Kelvin chose to stay in Canada to be close to relatives and raise his family turning down the offer of a position with the Mercury Space program (became NASA) as many of his colleagues did. Bette had been selling Tupperware at the time and the opportunity came for the family to move to Winnipeg and introduce this revolutionary new product to Manitoba, Saskatchewan and N.W. Ontario. Together they grew their Tupperware business to one of the top distributorships in North America impacting the lives of many along the way. When not working, Dad loved spending time at the cottage in Lac Du Bonnet. Always an engineer, he could be found puttering around on the island, designing a new project, improving his solar and wind energy system or riding his tractor. Faith, Family and Friends were the focus of Kelvin's life. Kelvin was predeceased by his parents, sister Doreen, brother Jim, and son Dennis. He leaves to cherish many wonderful memories, his wife Bette, son Dave and daughter Olwyn Lewis (Dave) and the lights of his life, grandchildren Jarred, Kaitlyn, Keelyn and Ezra. An amazing husband, father, brother-in-law, father-in-law, papa, uncle, cousin, friend; he will be missed but not forgotten. Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can made to Manitoba Brain Injury Association Inc., Special Olympics Manitoba, or a charity of one's choice. • Bette, David, and Olwyn,I was sad to hear the passing of Kelvin, but almost immediately I was transcended to the 60's when Jim and I sank your canoe at Lac du bonnet, and Kelvin in his calm and quiet way said, "that's alright we'll get it back".
