Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH GIESBRECHT (nee FRIESEN) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elizabeth Giesbrecht. Elizabeth passed away peacefully at Calvary Place Personal Care Home in Winnipeg on May 2, 2015 at the age of 94. Elizabeth Friesen was born August 23, 1920 in the Winkler area. As a young girl, she met William Giesbrecht and they were married on July 6, 1941. Eventually they moved to Winnipeg, where she worked for many years as a seamstress, known for her quality of work. Towards the end of her working career, she worked at the Grace Hospital in dietary. In her retirement, she found many things to occupy her time, including sewing, knitting, crocheting, travelling, volunteering and reading. She was predeceased by William in 1980. Elizabeth leaves behind her four children: Warren of Beausejour, Ruth of Winnipeg, Harley (Eleanor) of Anola and Rudy (Cheryl) of Stonewall. She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren: Kara, Kyle, Regan, Jennine, Koren, Annalee and Samuel; as well as great-grandchildren, Shale, Charley, Felix and Jaxon. Elizabeth is survived by her sisters, Mary and Tina, of Edmonton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a very large thank-you to the nurses and staff of Calvary Place Personal Care Home for their excellent care, kindness and compassion over the many months that she was there: especially in the last days. A private service for immediate family members was held on May 8, 2015 at Calvary Place Personal Care Home with interment at Brookside Cemetery.
