MARLENE PAULMARK Marlene was a country girl. She was born July 3, 1939 to parents Eugenia and Steve Owchar of Canora, Saskatchewan and raised on a farm. She attended a country school for her elementary years and went on to Canora High School. Upon graduation she moved to Regina and studied at Success Business School. She worked at a medical clinic and obtained her cardiology technician papers through the University in Saskatoon. Marlene later went on to work for S.G.I.O. where she met her lifelong partner Horace. They were married in Yorkton, Saskatchewan in 1962 and had two children, Jason in 1968 and Jillian in 1970. In 1975 the family moved to Winnipeg where Horace began his career with M.P.I.C. Marlene chose to spend more time with the family and later entered Red River Community College to obtain her library technician's diploma. She joined the Winnipeg School Division and worked in various libraries until her retirement in 1996. Marlene enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting and needlework but her greatest joy was her family. Horace and Marlene enjoyed playing golf during the summer months and travelled widely as time permitted. We wish to express our sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at both the Palliative Care Centre at St. Boniface Hospital and the Grace Hospice for their care and compassion during her battle with cancer which ended May 9, 2015. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2015 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715

  • I've known the Paulmarks my whole life. I'm so sorry to learn of Mrs. P's passing, but I know she will live on through her kids and grandkids, whether it's the way they smile, a great memory they have to share or the trademark "folding of the arms" while speaking, something she always seemed to do and which I can picture Cassandra doing! Mrs. P was always so well put together, kind, generous, quiet and very tiny - you would never expect to hear a walloping "Jillian Rae!" from her, but I did hear it a few times growing up. Mr. P, Jason, Jillian, Cassandra and Connor, I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you always. Love, Tammy - Posted by: Tamara Subtelny (Friend) on: May 13, 2015
