ADA SCOTT HAMILTON
Date of Passing: May 12, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADA SCOTT HAMILTON (nee RAM) 1913 - 2015 Ada passed away on May 12, 2015 in her 102nd year and what a life she lived. Born in Ninga, Manitoba she taught school in Bethal and Eden where she met and married Ivan Hamilton. They moved to Flin Flon in 1941, retiring to Winnipeg in 1966. They were blessed with two children, Bill who now resides in Oakville, Ontario and Margaret, a nurse, who was tragically killed in a car accident in 1966. Ivan died in 1985. She is also survived by Bill's wife Dorice, their children Ryan (Trish), Kelly (Chris), Marc (Julie) and eight great grandchildren; Madison, Cole, Chloe, James, Shawn, Remi, Lennon and Munro. There were three passions in her life: music, faith and family. An accomplished pianist and piano teacher, Ada conceived, edited and published a professional development journal for piano teachers, called the Manitoba Music Educator. Her contribution to the profession was recognized with Honorary Life Memberships in both the Manitoba and Canadian Music Educators Associations. A devout Christian, her love of God was deeply embedded in her, which enabled her to deal with life, both in good times and in times of tragedy. Ada was an active member of the St. James Parish in Flin Flon and St. Bedes Parish in Silver Heights. She contributed as an organist, choir director and served on the altar guilds for many years. She also played the organ at Deer Lodge for many years. Her family was central to her life. She maintained lifelong friendships with her two sisters Marjorie and Kathleen as well as Bill, Dorice and her three grandchildren with whom she built a strong bond. Grannie played an active role in their lives and they often went to her for guidance, treasuring her wisdom and positive attitude. We would like to acknowledge the staff at the Deer Lodge Centre who provided excellent care to Mum over the last 12 years, which was a comfort to our family living in Ontario, knowing she was in good hands. We also appreciate the friendship and support Mum's niece, Betty Currie, gave her. As our onsite family, Betty was always there to help in emergencies, dropping in for visits and undertaking all those important things that only families can do. A memorial service will be held at The Church of St. Stephen and St. Bede, 99 Turner Avenue on Friday, May 22 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation, in Ada's name, to the Deer Lodge Centre: Lodge 7 and T3 Patient Fund. The Deer Lodge address is 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3J 0L3. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

She was the best teacher I ever had. She taught me at Bethel School around 1933 approximately. I had the mumps that year and she came to stay overnight at our house. She kissed me and then she ended up getting the mumps. My sister Ruth and I used to ride to school with her in a horse and buggy. - Posted by: Alma McCausland nee Hill (Former Student) on: May 23, 2015
