Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERZSEBET (ELIZABETH) SZABO (nee TOMASSOVITS) April 28, 1933 - May 17, 2015 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Anyuka (Mom) was born in Hungary growing up in the beautiful countryside with rolling hills and vineyards. She met and married her husband Bela immigrating to Canada in 1956 where they raised their four children in Winnipeg. Anyuka enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. In 1969, they became owners of Blue Star Bakery in St. James where they became known for their delicious cinnamon buns and other baked goods. Anyuka will be remembered for her many special talents. She enjoyed baking popular Hungarian pastries and cookies and donated many hours to Folklorama. Her creative talents included dress making, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and embroidery. She had a quiet generous nature, always giving of her time and talents. Erzsebet was predeceased by her parents, Viktor and Ilona, her sister and brother in Hungary and her husband Bela. She is lovingly remembered by children, Liz (Dave), Bill (Sheila), Susan, Viktor (Jeannie), seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren as well as sisters and brothers in Hungary. Funeral service will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, MB. The family thank the staff at Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion extended to our Mother.
