Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN DINA MAY VERHAEGHE It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Verhaeghe of Poplar Point, Manitoba, at the age of 78 years, on May 19, 2015. Joan will be greatly missed by her husband Vernon, her children: Beth (Dennis) Moritz, grandchildren Matthew, Michael and Shaelyn; Glenn (Merna) Arksey, grandchildren Rachel (Rickie) Saltise, Diana May; son Robert (Jane), grandchildren Alyssa, Austin; granddaughters Brandy Franklin and Shannon Arksey, great-grandchildren, as well as many other family and friends. Joan was a devoted mother and grandmother, who loved to share stories of her children and grandchildren to all who would listen. They were her pride and joy, and she loved them all dearly. Joan also loved to spend time in her home in Poplar Point, watching the variety of wildlife and birds who entertained her outside her living room window, and enjoying the flowers that bloomed in her yard. She loved to watch the little bunnies hopping around in the grass, and was only ever slightly perturbed when they munched on the flowers that she and Vern had planted. Bird feeders were hung outside the window every spring to entice a diverse selection of feathered friends to gather to feed. Hummingbirds, finch, robins, orioles, and and many others provided hours of enjoyment. A Celebration of Joan's Life will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Stonewall, Manitoba. Friends so wishing may make donations in Joan's memory to the charity of their choice, or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 2B7. I'll miss you, grandma. I wish I could have made it down to Manitoba to see you more often, but the few times I did were so special and I'll always remember the warmth of your smile. I wish I got to hug you one last time. - Posted by: Alyssa V (Granddaughter) on: May 22, 2015
