ALEXANDER (SANDOR) NEMETH It is with great sorrow that I mourn the passing of the love of my life, Alex. Proud Magyar, Alex took great pride in his Hungarian heritage. Alex was born June 19, 1949 in Papa, Hungary to parents Anna and Lajos. Alex and his family moved to Canada in 1958, he went on to make many friends and his younger years were filled with many colourful tales. Alex was an avid historian (a walking history book). His knowledge was astonishing, and many a day I would find him reading his favourite book on Egyptian history, given to him by his favourite history teacher, Mr. Friedman. Alex had a passion for cooking, and what a cook he was. He easily could compete with any chef and his Hungarian cooking was out of this world. Our many Thanksgivings out at the lake were filled with his tasty delights, especially his cabbage rolls. Alex's love of family goes without question, getting together always meant the world to him and their stories of growing up and all their shenanigans would keep me in stitches. Alex and I cherished our home in Winnipeg Beach, always under renovations, he loved to hammer and saw. He also loved to walk, and we at times would walk for hours though not so much over the last few years due to injury. On Saturday, May 16, 2015 as I went to the front door to head to work, Alex said "Where's my kiss?". I kissed him goodbye, he said "Be careful". It was our last goodbye. I will miss him forever. Goodbye my love, till we meet again. Left to mourn his passing are Myrna, sons Sean and Robert (Danielle), granddaughters Demi and Eva, grandson Drew, brothers Louis (Jan) and Tibor, sisters Anna (Dennis) and Eva (Putsi) Kenny, and much loved sister-in-law Bev, as well as many nieces and nephews Marilyn (Tony), Christopher, Nancy (Jamie), Elliot (Stephanie), Patrick (Kirsten), and Jenny (Chris), and many relatives in Hungary all whom he dearly loved. He will also be greatly missed by his brother and sister-in-law Sherwood and Susan, nephew Nicholas and Nick's friend Aden from Toronto. Alex watched these boys grow up, and they loved him very much. As well as sister and brother-in-law Bertha and John, sister Judy, nieces and nephews Tessie and Danny (Avary), Trevor and Heather (Grayson), Tammie and (Tayla), and his many friends, especially our adopted grandpa John in Winnipeg Beach. I would like to thank our neighbours Valdine and Don for their support at this time. Thank you Father Mike, Joan and Liz for all your kindness at this time (my church family). Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. May God Bless you Alex on your journey. Love always Irene.
