Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGWENDOLINE BOWEN 1935 - 2015 Gwendoline passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Middlechurch Care Home where she had resided for several years, receiving quality hands on care from the staff. Gwen was born November 17, 1935 in Regina, Saskatchewan. She lived in several cities across Canada, during her youth and early adult years, eventually settling and making her home in Winnipeg with her young family. With a lifelong love of gardening, Gwen cherished her work and creativity with flowers and plants, which always seemed to respond to her gentle touch and TLC. Unfortunately, a stroke at age 61 disabled her from this passion, along with her love of golfing. Being very artistic, painting was a great joy for Gwen, even after her stroke when she was forced to re-learn her artistic skill using her left hand. Along with her husband, Steve, she was a longstanding member of the Royal Canadian Legion in East St. Paul. Gwen leaves many cherished memories with her sons, Bob, Martin (Val), Victor and their children, Sean, Kevin, Jay, Kyle (Jodie), Allison (Mark). Gwen was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Nash and Boston. Also left in her memory are Gwen's stepchildren, John, Cathy (Terry), Barb, Laura (Jorge) and their children, Matthew, Ryan, Aaron, Luke, Jill and Callie. Gwen is also survived by her loving sisters, Lorna (Fred), Maxine (Don) and their children, Marc, Todd and Karla (Ian). She was predeceased by her husband, Steve Bowen; her parents, Eric and Elsie Tyefisher, daughters-in-law, Jenny Peacock and Gail Bowen. Gwen's contentment and grace affected and enriched all those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her delightful sense of humour and strong independent nature. A service will be held to celebrate Gwen's life at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, with interment to follow. In honour of the compassionate and loving care Gwen received, it is requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Gwen's name to the Adult Day Program, Middlechurch Care Home, 280 Balderston Road, West St. Paul, MB R4A 4A6. I have such great memories of visiting the Bowen Family home on Kildonan Dr. I even got my very own straw in the apple juice can. I was so sorry to hear of Gwen's passing. I know my parents miss both Steve and Gwen and think of them often. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you! Laura Melnyk-Medven - Posted by: Laura Melnyk-Medven (family friend) on: Jun 01, 2015
