VALDINE SCRYMGEOUR (nee INGALDSON) November 2, 1915 - May 22, 2015 With deep sadness we announce the passing of our Mother, Amma and Langamma. Our loving mother passed away peacefully at the Calvary Place Personal Care Home. Predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Charles Harold Scrymgeour, Valdine is survived by her four children, Valdine Hernes (Siegfried) of Norway, Marion Kelly (Lorne) of Calgary, Lyle Scrymgeour (Sandra) of Oakbank and Stephen Scrymgeour (Heather Kuntz) of Calgary. Valdine took great joy in her six grandchildren, Signe Hernes (Harald Sundalskleiv) of Norway, Kristian Hernes (Ingvild) of Norway, Andrea Kelly (David McMillin) of Calgary, Michelle Kelly of Calgary, Chris Scrymgeour of Winnipeg and Shaun Scrymgeour of Winnipeg. She was blessed with six great-granddaughters, Alina, Malin and Emma Sundalskleiv and Vilde, Ida and Mathilde Hernes. She is survived by her sister, Andrea Madden of Guelph, sister-in-law, Evelyn Ingaldson of Minnedosa, and many nieces and nephews. Valdine was born in Winnipeg to Violet and Ingimar Ingaldson, the third of six children. The family lived in Arborg and then moved to Winnipeg when she was 12 years old. She attended Business College and started her career at the Manitoba Stockyards. Among her many talents, she was an accomplished pianist/organist, often playing at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and an excellent seamstress, specializing in wedding dresses and formal wear using her own designs. Her needlework and knitting left treasures for the family. Their home on Moorgate Street always welcomed friends and family. She was very proud of her Icelandic heritage and loved to spend summers at Hecla and Gimli with her grandparents, and later at the Gimli cottage with her own family. The Lutheran Church was an important part of her life, where she was an active member of the Women's Auxiliary, attending conferences in Canada and the United States. She and Charlie were among the first to move into Betelstadur in Winnipeg, where they enjoyed many retirement years together. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Calvary Place Personal Care Home for their care, support and friendship during the five years our mother lived there. Much loved by her family, her warmth, kindness and good humour will be sadly missed. PRIVATE CELEBRATION OF LIFE CEREMONY will be held in July.
