LANA M. LETKEMAN 1949 - 2015 Lana M. Letkeman (nee Brignall) passed away June 1, 2015 at the Seven Oaks Hospital after a lengthy illness. Lana will be forever loved and remembered by her husband Richard, sister Audrey, and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephew, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Christel Brignall. Lana grew up in Vermilion Bay, ON, attending high school in Dryden, ON. In the mid-1970s, Lana moved to Winnipeg and started working in the service industry. Soon afterwards, she moved to the caregiving of the young, the elderly and adults with disabilities such as D.A.S.C.H. group homes. Lana didn't limit her love and care just for people. She also rescued dogs, volunteered as a Registrated Pet Therapist bringing dogs to nursing homes and hospitals. Lana was always the "underdog's" champion. Lana met Richard in 1978 and they were married in 1981. They would have celebrated their 34th anniversary this year. Lana and Richard moved to Dauphin, MB for five years, then to Brandon for four years before returning to Winnipeg in 1995. During this time, they made many friends that have become lifetime "family". Always giving of her time to others was Lana's first nature. If there was someone in need Lana would be there to help. Lana was a very vibrant out-going person always looking for the good in others. Lana loved reading, flowers and going to concerts. She had a love for the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys and the Stampeders following them all over Manitoba. She also had a soft spot in her heart for her four footed family of Foxy, Merlin, Patches, Texas, Mr. Chang, Shadow and Whiskey. A very special thanks to all of the Seven Oaks Hospital staff for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Lana's Life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. (across from Brookside Cemetery).
