Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCARL ERNEST PONTIFEX April 1, 1920 - June 5, 2015 Carl's well-lived life ended peacefully on June 5. He will be sadly missed by Dorothy, his wife of 66 years; children, Don (Marlene), Joy Wilton (Tom) and Heather (Bob); grandchildren, Graham Wilton and Amy (Trevor) and their three children, Jada, Ty and Desiree. Carl will also be missed by his sister Doris Jones and brother Douglas, brother-in-law Maurice Smith (Barb) and sister-in-law Shirl and their families. Sadly Carl was predeceased by daughter Sandra Tacchi (Aldo). Carl had many fond memories of growing up on the family farm south of Cypress River. During the Second World War, Carl served four years in the Air Force, the last two in England. On his return, he obtained a B. Sc. degree in electrical engineering, graduating in 1949, the same year he married Dorothy. He was employed at Manitoba Hydro until he retired in 1981. Carl enjoyed camping, gardening, carpentry, photography and faithfully supporting Harrow United Church. Genealogy played a passionate part of Carl's retirement. Carl and Dorothy travelled across Canada, the continent, Australia and N.Z., visiting relations and collecting information. He was proud of publishing three books, which covered different family lines. A private family service at Chapel Lawn will take place later in June to celebrate Carl's wonderful life.

We always looked forward to Carl's visits to Killarney, MB. He worked very hard on creating the YEO book. A marvelous collection that will remain a source of family information for years to come. A lot of time and effort went into his book and it is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Carl and Dorothy - Posted by: Keith and Wendy Yeo () on: Jun 18, 2015

Dorothy, Carl will always remain in my memory as one of the most conscientious, co-operative and loyal employees in Manitoba Hydro. Mavis and I enjoyed our social times with you and Carl. His likely relationship with the Pope was always a source of good humour. May God give you the strength to deal with the difficult days ahead.
