GAIL SIGURDSON We are saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Gail Sigurdson on June 7, 2015 at the age of 64. Gail was born in Swan River, Manitoba on October 27, 1950. She was predeceased by her husband Brian Piercy, parents Fred and Ellen Sigurdson and brother-in-law Don Poborsa. Left to cherish her memories are stepdaughter Natisha, sister Karen Poborsa, nieces Jody, Jenna, and Kailey Poborsa, nephew Jayson Poborsa, grandson Nathaniel, and her great-niece and nephews. She will also be fondly missed by her friends and her beloved dog, Dudley. Gail spent a quiet childhood in Swan River, Manitoba, attending school and enjoying many happy moments with her close group of friends. After high school, she moved to Winnipeg to attend Red River College, where she successfully completed accounting courses and began her career. Gail worked as an accountant in Winnipeg for quite a few years before moving up to Rankin Inlet, Nunavut for work. While there she also became an Avon representative, made many new friends and fell in love with the area, the culture and her husband, Brian. Eventually, Brain and Gail left the north and moved to Lethbridge, Alberta. After Brian's passing, Gail returned to Rankin with Natisha for a few short years before coming back to Winnipeg to be closer to her family. Once back in Winnipeg, Gail continued her accounting career, joined Toastmasters, and adopted her cherished dog, Dudley. She and Dudley spent countless hours together delighting in dog classes, and taking long walks through the Charleswood Dog Park. Gail will be missed for her sense of humour, kind and giving heart, support to her friends and family, love of animals, passion for reading, knitting skills, hosting family dinners, her homemade relishes, beets and jellies, and her numerous old family recipes which had been handed down to her. Her family would like to thank her health care team at Health Sciences Centre for doing all they could for her, right up until the very end, and to all those that were a part of Gail's life. A service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Gail will be buried in Lethbridge, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests that a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society be made in Gail's name. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715

We knew Gail through the Charleswood Toastmasters Club for several years. Gail always had a smile and a good word for everyone. We all liked and respected her, and appreciated her contribution to the well-being of our club. We will miss her. - Posted by: Jim Taylor (Member of Gail's Toastmasters club) on: Jun 30, 2015

I met Gail in Grade 1 and was a classmate until the end of grade 7 and we were friends who seldom saw each other over the years and reconnected through face book I was hoping to connect face to face this summer at Rodeo and will miss her. - Posted by: Cheryl Borley (friend) on: Jun 15, 2015

Lazer (Tan Border Collie) and I have been missing Gail and her cute dog Dudley at the Free Leash Park for a few weekends. It broke my heart to hear the sad news at the park today while we were looking for them. I will miss the joy of chatting with her on Saturday and Sunday mornings no matter how cold or hot it was. I will miss laughing with her when Dudley would repeatedly jump on Lazer's back whenever Lazer was wrestling with another dog. My condolences to her family for their loss; condolences that include Dudley too. He will also be grieving deeply for his human mom that cared so much about him. - Posted by: Peter Plikett (Charleswood Dog Park Friend) on: Jun 13, 2015

I only knew Gail through my co-worker, Marge and only had the opportunity to chat with her once a year at an annual event we all attended, for the last few years. I personally knew Gail very little, but enough to know what a friendly and giving person she was and it saddened me to hear of her recent health problems and passing. I know she will be greatly missed. My condolences to her family and to her friends. - Posted by: Shelley (Aquaintence) on: Jun 11, 2015

Gail and I have been friends for 40 years. We were co-workers at Gemini and remained friends from then on. Shared many trials and tribulations together over the years. I won't forget our last cup of Tim's coffee together at the hospital, who would have known that was going to be our last together. I will miss you dearly. Rest in peace Gail, you are back having coffee with Brian, Don and Mom and Dad. Who would have known it would be that quickly. Good bye my friend till we meet again. Marge. - Posted by: Marge and George Aitkenhead (Friend) on: Jun 11, 2015

My twin sister, Kathie, and I remember Gail as being very quiet in school. She had great birthday parties (where she was not quiet)! We lost touch after high school, but connected on Facebook a few years ago when she still lived in Rankin. I had the pleasure of having coffee with her and catching up on 40 decades of news when she moved back to Winnipeg. It was a pleasure to have called her "friend". - Posted by: Carolyn Stevenson Killingbeck (Childhood Friend) on: Jun 10, 2015

I am so sorry to hear of Gail's passing. Gail and I only worked together for a short time but in that time I came to know her as kind, supportive and with a great sense of humour. I remember her stories of the places she had lived and of growing up in Swan River. She spoke fondly of her family and her beloved Dudley. She will be missed. My condolences to Gail's gamily. - Posted by: Maria Lysack (Previous Co-Worker) on: Jun 10, 2015

So sorry to hear about Gail's passing. She lived across the street from us. I would run into her walking Dudley once in awhile and we would chat a little. She was a very nice lady. My condolences to her family. - Posted by: Jen (Neighbour) on: Jun 10, 2015
