KENNETH (KEN) GEORGE GORDON It is with profound sadness and utter disbelief that we say goodbye to our "Kenny". Kenneth George Gordon passed away peacefully after complications following surgery on Saturday, June 6, 2015. Words cannot express the hole that will be left in the hearts of family members at this sudden and unexpected loss. Ken is survived by his wife Marvie Gordon; two daughters, Becki (Ryan) Moss and Brianna (Lindsay) Gordon; and granddaughter Emma; his sister Gayle (Wayne) McAskie; his brother Jeff (Twylla) Gordon and their son Brock (Casey) Gordon, and daughter Melainee (Kyle) Glass; his sister-in-law Candice Gordon and her daughter Dayna Gordon, as well as his great-nieces and nephews, and many uncles, aunts and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Marie (Mary) Gordon (1981), his father James Phillip Kitchener Gordon (2009), his nephew Gregory James Gordon (1981) and his brother James Robert Gordon (2002). Ken was born in Pilot Mound on April 29, 1954. Ken enjoyed many sports throughout his life and was proud of his accomplishments in baseball, hockey and golf. He also enjoyed teaching his daughters these skills and both coached and reffed fastball and ringette. He was employed with Manitoba Hydro in various capacities for 39 years from 1972 to 2011. The highlight of his career was definitely his opportunity to work in Tanzania with Manitoba Hydro International for nine months in 2010. His work in Tanzania sparked a travel bug with Ken and he thoroughly enjoyed travelling with his wife Marvie, touring Western Europe, going on safari in Africa and last year's trip to the British Isles. He also enjoyed a few winters as a snowbird in Mesa, Arizona. The past few months were very difficult in regards to Ken's health and diagnosis but the bright light in his life was the time he got to spend with his eight month old granddaughter Emma. He was an amazing "papa". A memorial service will be held at the United Church in Meadowood at 1111 Dakota St. on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Sorry to hear of the sudden loss of Ken, as I knew him. We became friends back in 1972 when he first started with Hydro as my rodman while working at Notigi. It so happened that on his first helicopter ride we were in a crash, we both walked away unharmed, which he has likely told you. Again sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Brian Misener (Fellow worker) on: Jun 29, 2015

My sincerest condolences to you and all those who loved Ken and to those who will miss him very much. Like many others I knew Ken growing up in Swan River. During the school summers I worked at the Community Inn for Ken's mom Mary and Ken & Jeff would often drop by to see what was going on and grab a meal since his Mom worked almost every evening. Ken had one of the warmest personalities with an irrepressible twinkle in his eye and a mischievous smile. For anyone who shared a Facebook page with Ken, you could see how proud he was of his 'girls'. He share many inspirational postings with others and always a standup guy who wanted everyone to enjoy the best of life. May you find peace and comfort in knowing that Ken has a special place in so many hearts. I am a better person for having known him. Though Ken's presence in this world will be forever missed, he is an indomitable soul. - Posted by: Carolyn M. McKay, Calgary, AB (School friend from Swan River) on: Jun 13, 2015

Kenny was a great guy, responsible citizen, very proud husband and father. We enjoyed a tremendous fishing trip to Zed lake a couple of years ago. His sense of humour and positive attitude were infectious. I had the good fortune of talking to Kenny several times at Cancer care where we both were being treated. He was so positive about his recovery I have a hard time believing his passing. Please accept our heartfelt condolences Marvie and family - Posted by: Brian Thompson (Friend) on: Jun 10, 2015
