GARY CHUDY It is with deep and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Chudy, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend on June 9, 2015. After a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends at St. Boniface Hospital, he peacefully slipped away. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of nearly 35 years, Evelyn, children Lisa (Ryan), and Rick (Nicole) granddaughter Savannah, and dear friend Jason. He is also survived by his siblings Janice (Brian), Vern (Nanci), Glenn, Kevin (Jennifer), sister-in-law Barbara, brother-in-law Bruce (Joan) and many uncles, aunties, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Irene, sister Eileen, brother Dennis, in-laws Jean and Jim Romano (parents), Marie and Gordon Spence, Phyllis Vitagliano, Lawrence Alyward and Michael Romano. Gary was born June 27, 1956 in Winnipeg, the eldest of six children in a musical family. It was this passion for music that stayed with him all his life, whether it be listening or dancing to it. His other passion, for the road led him to his career as a courier, and then as a bus driver for Winnipeg Transit for over 30 years. After retiring, he went on to work for Beaver Bus Lines and then as a shuttle driver for Vickar Chevrolet. Gary's heart was happiest when he was among people, be it family, friends, co-workers, customers or strangers. He enjoyed "kibitzing" with anyone who crossed his path. Instead of a long story short, he made a short story long, so it was always story time with Gary. His love of his work and dancing led to many lasting lifelong friendships. He also cherished his furbabies and his presence will be greatly missed by all four of them. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Oncology for their kindness and compassion during his illness. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home on Saturday, June 20th 2015 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gary's honour to an animal rescue charity of your choice.
