ALEXANDER HENRY ARTHUR SCHORN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander Henry Arthur Schorn, on June 18, 2015, passing peacefully in his sleep at the Victoria Hospital, at the age of 76. He is survived by his loving wife Doreen, of 55 years, daughter Cathy Grabski (Thomas), son Michael Schorn (Tracey), grandchildren Jorden Grabski (Kym), Jenessa Grabski (Riley), Jennifer Schorn (Dennis) and Jessica Schorn (Ryan). He is also survived by his sister Marjorie Zado (Helmut), and many relatives and friends. Alex was employed in various departments at Canada Packers for 22 years. He then left to start his own successful Financial Consulting Business. Alex was a devoted member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and served on church council on and off from his early 20s until recently. He held numerous positions, with his longest being Chairperson for over 25 years. In addition he served as the Treasurer of the Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario Synod, ELCIC for four years. Alex loved to travel. He visited many places, but going to Germany, Austria, Hawaii and Florida were among his favourites. He loved spending time with his grandchildren (the four J's), and enjoyed going on many family holidays. Funeral will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 25 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 1N9, with Pastor Bjoern Meinhardt presiding. Viewing at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at Brookside Cemetery, with reception at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
