Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDER HENRY ARTHUR SCHORN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander Henry Arthur Schorn, on June 18, 2015, passing peacefully in his sleep at the Victoria Hospital, at the age of 76. He is survived by his loving wife Doreen, of 55 years, daughter Cathy Grabski (Thomas), son Michael Schorn (Tracey), grandchildren Jorden Grabski (Kym), Jenessa Grabski (Riley), Jennifer Schorn (Dennis) and Jessica Schorn (Ryan). He is also survived by his sister Marjorie Zado (Helmut), and many relatives and friends. Alex was employed in various departments at Canada Packers for 22 years. He then left to start his own successful Financial Consulting Business. Alex was a devoted member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and served on church council on and off from his early 20s until recently. He held numerous positions, with his longest being Chairperson for over 25 years. In addition he served as the Treasurer of the Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario Synod, ELCIC for four years. Alex loved to travel. He visited many places, but going to Germany, Austria, Hawaii and Florida were among his favourites. He loved spending time with his grandchildren (the four J's), and enjoyed going on many family holidays. Funeral will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 25 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 1N9, with Pastor Bjoern Meinhardt presiding. Viewing at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at Brookside Cemetery, with reception at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Wir sind in die Rhön gefahren,haben gemeinsam gegrillt und viel gemeinsam gelacht. My condolences to you, Doreen, and your family. I remember Alex as a man who came to be a very good friend of my family. I am especially appreciative of how much help and support he was to my parents, from the time that they moved next door to Alex on Beaverbrook St., until their passing. When I think of Alex I will always remember his presence in my life. He was there through my childhood, he remained supportive and involved through my adult life and extended himself to my family. He became family. He gave me many moments to ponder my directions in life and guidance in so many ways. We are shocked and very saddened to hear of Alex's passing. He was such a strong and vibrant man. We enjoyed our yearly meetings to discuss our financial plans. Our conversations were always very interesting. Alex was a very intelligent man.We are thankful we knew him. He will be missed. I had only known Alex for a short four years, but can truely say that he was one of the nicest, kindest gentleman I had come to know. Sharing office spare with him, I had come to look forward to seeing him daily, and sharing stories of interest. I will miss him greatly.
