WAYNE MICHAEL MICHALYSHYN It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, and uncle, Wayne Michalyshyn, on June 16, 2015 at the age of 59 in Calgary, Alberta. He will also be missed by his uncle Mervin and aunt Sonia Michalyshen, aunts from Calgary: Helen Tryhuk, Margaret Herchak, Gloria Tymkiw, and uncle Leonard Tymkiw as well as numerous cousins. Wayne was predeceased by his father Mike. Wayne was born in Shoal Lake, Manitoba on January 23, 1956. He received his early education at Oakburn Elementary School, went on to St. Vladimir's College in Roblin, and completed his high school at Rossburn Collegiate. He graduated from Assiniboine College in Brandon with his plumbing certificate. Wayne was a very hard worker and he held a number of jobs in his younger years and then went on to do plumbing for Shymko Homes in Winnipeg, and moved to Calgary to work for Canyon Plumbing where he worked for 19 years. Wayne had a passion for curling and curled in several leagues throughout the years. He also loved watching football, especially the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Church was especially important to Wayne. He had a church family in Calgary at St. Steven's Ukrainian Catholic Church, a family at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Winnipeg, and he always felt his roots were at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic in Oakburn. He very much enjoyed getting together with family. He always made arrangements to come home for Christmas and the holidays and he loved nothing more than a good meal with all of us. Wayne never missed calling on all of our birthdays. Wayne deeply loved his father and will be able to spend Father's Day together with him once again. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 25, at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Oakburn, with interment following in the parish cemetery. • I'm saddened to learn of Wayne's passing. I'm proud to say Wayne was a good friend. He loved family, friends and work. But had to leave Winnipeg when work was difficult to find and found an opportunity in Calgary. Wayne was a great conversationalist, expressing strong opinions in sports, politics, and life. He liked meeting people and made new friends easily. Meeting him, you can tell he had good moral character. Many of us that knew him will miss him. Rest in Peace good friend. - Posted by: Mike Weretyk (Friend from Winnipeg) on: Jan 02, 2016

  • Wayne is very much missed at work , never short on words ,he always a witty sarcastic joke to lighten up the day . I worked with Wayne the first day he started back in 1996 and I left the company for a while but would run into him now and again and always enjoyed seeing his smiling grin and we'd reminisce the past ...... God Bless you Wayne - Posted by: Mike Kirk (Co-worker and Friend) on: Jun 28, 2015

  • I was very shocked and sad to hear that Wayne passed away so suddenly. Please accept my most sincere condolences to your family. I had the pleasure of working with Wayne for the last 11 years and I will miss him very much. Wayne was always very respectful and polite. He would stop by my office almost every morning and we would chat and he would always talk about his family. Wayne knew my parents and family and would always ask how they were doing. He was a very genuine and kind man. May God Bless his soul. - Posted by: Carolyn Gray (Co-worker at Canyon Plumbing) on: Jun 23, 2015

  • I've known Wayne for his 19 years here at Canyon, he was a great guy and I would consider him more as a friend than just a co-worker, one of my fondest memories was golfing with Wayne, he hit the most perfect golf shot I've ever seen, it was low to the ground, hit a rock, shot sideways, between two trees and found a one foot wide window on an adjacent house, but in true Wayne fashion he marched right up there, took full responsibility and bought the lady a new window, he was that kind of guy!! I never did see him back on the golf course after that however. I'm going to miss our constant bantering back and forth every summer as to who had the better football team , my beloved Eskimos, or his beloved Blue Bombers, he definitely bled blue and gold, and never lost faith in them. I will miss you buddy!! May You Rest In Peace!! - Posted by: Jim Mackow (co-worker) on: Jun 23, 2015

  • Wayne will sorely missed by all his co workers. It will be strange not having Wayne make his rounds around the office first thing in the morning talking to everyone. He was a good friend and co worker. - Posted by: Pete Ceh (Co Worker) on: Jun 22, 2015
