Gene's working life took him through several occupations and then a career with Air Canada as a maintenance technician for some 20 years until his retirement at age 65. Gene enjoyed the outdoors. He had a Harley Davison bike at age 16 and drove many makes and models over his cycling years. He excelled at competitive motorcycle events, earning Manitoba's top honours many times. He also enjoyed boating. In winter it was snowmobiling and broomball. Gene won many trophies, an indication of his competitive spirit. In years past, Gene liked to escape at least part of Winnipeg's February weather by flying out to Barbados. A memorial service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, on Saturday, June 27 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
