KENNETH MORLEY (MOE) PONTON October 10, 1932 - June 21, 2015 On Father's Day, June 21, 2015, Moe peacefully passed away with his wife by his side knowing he was surrounded by love. Moe is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Noreen (nee Robertson), his children Kim (Rob) Ormiston, Kenneth (Stephanie), Jodie (Grant Kummen) and Jeff (Toni), grandchildren Brandy Durnin (Chris Burns), Samantha (Gary) De Pape, Jack and Olivia Ponton, Morgan (Derek) Klassen, Jackson and Addison Kummen, Cooper and Dru Ponton, and great-grandchild Charlie De Pape. He is also survived by his brother Morris (Phyllis) and in-laws Jim (Kris) Robertson, Patricia (Bruce) Hogg and Dan (Virginia) Robertson, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families who were all very special to him. Moe was a devoted and caring husband, dad and papa/grandpa. One of his greatest joys was the time he spent with his kids and grandkids watching all their activities and cheering them on at the rink, field or ball diamond. Moe loved all sports. In his younger years he was an avid curler and could be found at many rinks throughout Winnipeg playing in a bonspiel or club. He was inducted into the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame in 2004 with his fastball team the Kiewel's White Seals. He would often go to watch tournament fastball with his wife Noreen and always enjoyed ballgames from the view of his backyard. Moe was a Winnipeg Blue Bomber season ticket holder for many years and would not miss watching a game on TV from his favourite chair. Many summers were spent camping throughout British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario. One of Moe's favourite vacations was a road trip to the East Coast camping along the way. He also enjoyed their trips to Jamaica, San Andres and cruises through the Caribbean and to Alaska. Moe was a dedicated and passionate volunteer. He met with many fellow amputees and helped them adjust to their new lifestyle. Moe sang with the St. James Senior Choir and spent countless hours singing to residents at Oakview Extendicare and providing comfort to many people in their last days at Grace Hospice. A private interment will be held, followed by a Celebration of Moe's life at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015 at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba. All Moe's family and friends are welcome to attend. We wish to thank all those who have helped our family through these last months providing care and comfort; the doctors and nurses at Grace Hospital, the W.R.H.A. Palliative Care staff, especially Sean and the staff at the Palliative Care unit at Riverview Health Centre. One of Moe's favourite blessings: May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rain fall soft upon your fields, And until we meet again, May God hold you gently in the palm of His hand. We love you and will see you again. Keep on singing! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0R1 or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. My sincere condolences on the loss of Moe. I knew him from my association with the Singsationals choir out of the St. James-Assiniboia 55+ Centre. He was always so cheerful and enjoyed singing the 'golden oldies' which primarily comprised our programs, and always had suggestions for new material. He will be missed by many people whose lives he touched. - Posted by: Nan Christie (friend) on: Jun 25, 2015

We had the pleasure of meeting Moe and his wife Noreen when our daughter Morgan played hockey on the same team as their grand-daughter Morgan. Morgan#1 & Morgan#2!!! He was the ultimate fan, always cheering on the girls and making all of us parents laugh! He also was known for trying all the different selections of food from the canteen, and letting us know what was good to try! I ran into Moe and Noreen a couple of months back outside of the Stonewall arena and I jumped out of the car to give them each a big hug. It was great to see them again. I am saddened to hear of Moe's passing. He will be greatly missed, by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Alison Lecuyer - Posted by: Alison & Wally Lecuyer (Hockey friends ) on: Jun 25, 2015

I had the pleasure of working with Moe years ago when I worked at Oakview Place. He brought so much joy to the residents and staff with his great demeanor and laugh. You could hear him coming with that deep voice before you saw him. I loved that loud voice! He was never too busy to stop and talk to anyone, and always happy to lend a helping hand. I'm sure that June, Jerry, and Moe are singing together, making merry melodies in heaven. Moe made a difference for many people on this earth... I am sad to know that he's gone. I send my love to his friends and family - you are in my thoughts. - Posted by: Kristin Darragh (Friend to this fine gentleman ) on: Jun 24, 2015
