ALBERT ANDREW BARTLEY 1925 - 2015 Peacefully on June 23, 2015 Albert passed away at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, at the age of 90. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy Edna; daughters, Janis, Jean (Joel) and Dianne; and grandchildren Megan, Michael, Dylan, Carter and Eliot. He was predeceased by parents Albert and Margaret (Riddell) Bartley. Albert was born and lived in Winnipeg until school age when the family moved to Great Falls and then to Seven Sisters where he remained until he joined the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of 18. He served for 36 years in locations in United Kingdom, Europe, East Africa and Canada, retiring as Chief Warrant Officer in 1980 in Winnipeg. His career continued with Standard Aero of Winnipeg for nine years, retiring in 1989. A sports and fitness enthusiast, Albert enjoyed curling, golf, bowling, skating and his routine at the Reh-fit Centre. As a fan of professional sports, he cheered the Maple Leafs, the Bombers, the Jets and the Blue Jays. In retirement, Albert and his wife spent winters in Florida and Victoria. They enjoyed lunches with friends, Sunday afternoon with the WSO, gardening, BBQs, the neighbourhood and community, travel and time spent with loved ones. The family extends sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff of the Grace Hospital and the Assiniboine Clinic for their care and support. Cremation has taken place, a private family memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba.
