PAT MILLER (SHARP) After a long and wonderful life, Pat passed away of cancer on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the age of 85. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Bob (Dale), Gord (Jody), Donna (Mike) and her grandchildren, Chelsea, Reid, Samantha and Casey. Pat was the youngest child in the Sharp family and is survived by her brother Gord of Toronto. She grew up in Elmwood and attended Lord Selkirk School. As a young girl she modelled for the T.Eaton Company Catalogue and as a teen she worked at Brown's Drug Store. Upon graduation she worked in the City of Winnipeg Audit Department and after spending time at home with her children, she returned to work as a secretary with the Winnipeg School Division until her retirement in 1988. It was at the City of Winnipeg that Pat met Bill Miller and they spent many happy years together until his passing in 1989. As a couple they had an amazing friendship and their zest for life has given their family many memorable stories. Their cabin at Austin Lake was a place where family and friends gathered. It was at the lake that Pat always found a "little patch of blue sky" on the darkest days and found solace in the beautiful views from the boat house. Never one to be idle, Pat enjoyed travelling, especially on cruise ships. Her adventures took her to all corners of the world including Asia, Australia and South America. Pat enjoyed the interesting people she met during these trips as much as the destinations. She also kept busy over the years by singing in her church choir, golfing, and being with her friends in the E.K. Road Runners. She gave back to her community by volunteering for numerous groups and charities that include St. Agnes Guild, Middle Church Personal Care Home and E.K. Seniors Centre. Pat's pragmatism, her love of laughter and her generous spirit endeared her to many people and fostered life-long friendships. Her acceptance of her illness as well as her incredible dignity and courage in her last few months of life are an inspiration to all of us. Her family is truly grateful for the amazing staff at Concordia Hospital and Misericordia Personal Care Centre for their care and support. In keeping with Pat's wishes, there will be no service and a private family burial will take place. Pat asked that there be a gathering of friends and family to remember the good times and this will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of their choice.
