Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID RONALD GLEAD 1949 - 2015 David was a native of Montreal born on May 23, 1949. After a rambunctious boyhood he was drawn to rock music and became a road musician and band manager travelling throughout the US and Canada. He then took up residence in Winnipeg as a sales rep of stereo equipment. In the 1990s he decided to exercise his passion for boats and started his own business, David Glead Pro Marine. David passed away suddenly at Angle Inlet, Lake of the Woods, Minnesota on May 22, 2015 pursuing his passion for boats and being on the water with good friends. When David was not operating his marine supply and repair business in West St Paul, Manitoba he pursued his love of car racing, music, great guitars, fine cooking, and expanding his extensive model train collection. David was a good sailor who loved his tote of rum, a good conversation and had a wry sense of humour. He always had a ready and sometimes mischievous smile. David is survived by his sister Jennifer Baird Glead of Mission, BC and half-sister Barbara Hedwig, also of Mission. He will be greatly missed by his partner Patti Krassilowsky. A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Manitoba Yacht Club, 90 Kenabeek St., West Saint Paul, MB on July 25, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. light refreshments will be served. In memory of David donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Dave showed up in my life one Saturday afternoon for an audition. We thought we were auditioning a guitarist in reality it was the band that was being auditioned. He didn't say a word just plugged in and started jamming. I jumped on my drum kit and joined the fray trying to invent a tom-tom rhythm to match what he was playing. He said to me later, months later that had I slid into a conventional time pattern he would have unplugged and walked out. We played together for a couple of years and were roommates when we started touring. His gift to me was introducing me to blues music which I still love. In a rickety Ford van with three other band mates we traveled as far Halifax to the east and Eau Claire, Wisconsin in the west. Out of touch for years, I am devastated. - Posted by: Michael Parkinson (Musical brother.) on: Dec 05, 2016

Like Gordon Taylor, I had the pleasure of playing with Dave when we were growing up. He had a great sense of humor and was truly passionate about his guitars and his music. He was always tweaking and tinkering with something. Amazing musician. Sorry we lost touch over the years but have thought of him often. Great times and great memories. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. - Posted by: Will Nicholson (Childhood friend) on: Aug 22, 2015

I was deeply saddened to learn of David's passing. David was an old friend that I hung out with and played music with back in Chomedey in the late 60's. He had wonderful sense of humor and quick wit and was a good friend, probably one of the finest guitarists that I've played with, innovative and ahead of the game. I've often thought of him throughout the years and I still think of him when I'm listening or playing music. I was happy when we hooked up on FB and had the occasional chat.I'm sure he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. - Posted by: Gordon Taylor (Old friend) on: Jun 27, 2015
