MINDY MATHEWS Mindy Mathews passed away in the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital early Saturday morning on June 27, 2015, after complications from pneumonia. Mindy was born December 23, 1929 to Dora and Siggi Mathews in Siglunes, Manitoba. Dad was predeceased by his wife Trudi (nee Malcolm), his parents, brother Hughie and sisters, Norma and Bernice. He is survived by his son Phil (Debby); daughter Lori (Al); grandchildren, Brody, Nikki, Megan and Siggi; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Hunter; his sister Lorraine Proctor and his lovely dog and companion Nina. He also leaves behind sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Dad grew up in Oak Point, Manitoba and was very involved in hockey and baseball, which were great passions for him. Dad started Mathew's Tile and Company in the early 1960s, until retirement in the late 1980s. Dad was a rock through Mom's Alzheimer and such an incredible father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family and would cherish times together. Dad will be dearly missed. He was a gentle, kind, compassionate, patient and a gem of a man. Dad, you will be forever in our hearts. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service in Mindy's honour will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015 in the Oak Point Community Hall with Shirley Russell officiating. Lunch will follow in the hall with an interment to be held in the Oak Point Cemetery. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOME Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072 1-866-323-3593

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Dear Lori, Phil and families, We were so sorry we couldn't be with you for the funeral. Our thoughts were with you that day. Uncle Mindy was a character in a world where we don't have enough characters. He reminded me so much of Uncle Siggi. We have so many fond memories of them both. Oak Point will not be the same without him. Love and best wishes, Lorna and Tom - Posted by: Lorna and Tom (cousins) on: Jul 27, 2015
