CHRISTOPHER ANTON JOHNSON (aka CJSHRED) March 1, 1987 - June 24, 2015 On Wednesday June 24, 2015, Christopher left us far too soon. He is survived by his loving parents Monica Johnson (Cris Ashton), Randy Johnson (Michelle Desrosiers); siblings Dana (Jon) Olafson, Karli Johnson (Jason Gray), Julien Forest, Genevieve Forest; grandparents Anne Glaeser, Harry Johnson (Mary Sawchuk); the love of his life Kimberly MacCarthy, and their canine babies Ollie and Bentley. Chris was predeceased by his grandparents Rita Johnson and Peter Glaeser. Christopher deeply loved his mother, talking to her every day. He was proud to follow in the IT footsteps of his father, and had begun a successful career with Tata Consulting. He was promoted last year to Help Desk Engineer, providing IT support at Cargill. Christopher was a charismatic, handsome young man who charmed everyone he met. As a teen, when he wasn't mastering the computer, he would write complex poetry; he could philosophize about any subject. He was passionate about skateboarding, snowboarding and fishing. He was an avid photographer, seeing the beauty in every moment, whether it be in friends, snowboarding, or breathtaking sunsets. Every sunset was different in his eyes. He loved making memories at the cottage without ever missing a moment to laugh with friends or appreciate the calm of the water. He was thoughtful and giving, and had so many dreams. His heart was three times too big, and in the end it broke. We will always remember the short time he was with us; he painted the world with love. To honour Christopher's spirit we invite friends and family to a celebration of his life on Friday July 3, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. As Christopher was not one single swatch of colour, we encourage those who wish to attend his celebration to dress however they feel will best represent Chris and his colourful personality. Christopher, we take comfort that you have found the peace you sought, and carry our love with you. Christopher was proudly training for the CIBC Run For The Cure on October 6th. We would love for you to help him complete his goal by signing up to run or donating to: http://cibcrunforthecure.supportcbcf.com (participant: Chris Johnson). In our quest to reduce the stigma of mental illness, the family encourages your support of the Manitoba Division of the Canadian Mental Health Association in Christopher's honour. Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • It's now 10 years since you left us Chris. We miss you every day and try to rejoice in the wonderful memories you left with us. Your loving heart and unique personality was cherished, and you touched many lives in your short lifetime. We have learned to deal with the grief, that is part of us now. We love you and pray that Jesus, your Dad Randy, and relatives comfort you in eternal paradise. Peace be with you Chris. - Posted by: Laurie Jordan (friend) on: Jun 28, 2025

  • Son, It’s been 10 years since you left us and I still can’t believe you’re gone. My heart aches for you every day. My tears could create an ocean. They say the pain of losing you will get easier as time passes, but I’m still waiting. I pray all the time hoping to see you in my dreams, so I could hug you, tell you how proud I am to be your mother, to be able to share time with you while you cook me one of your wonderful meals, to laugh at your silly antics, to sew the holes in your snowboard jacket, to just hang out and share good or not so good times. I feel your presence sometimes. I find your white feathers, or receive random messages from you through a song, or poetry that pops on my phone. How you loved to write poetry and I still have them to cherish. I love watching your videos and looking at your photos many happy times. It helps me to hear your voice. Hopefully in time, the pain will be lighter. I know one day I will see you again, but until then, I hope you will meet me in my dreams so we can spend time together. Love You, Miss You everyday.❤️❤️ Love Mom ❤️ ❤️ - Posted by: Monica Johnson (Mother) on: Jun 27, 2025

  • Hits hard, Chris was such a great guy, funny, loving, and true. I graduated with Chris from Horizons in 2007. We were in alot of the same classes together, but drama opened a few of us up and became more honest and understanding with each other. Chris was one of them, I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm so blessed to have had the time with Chris that I did. ❤️, I think of him always and thank him for helping be apart of something so magical. Love you Chris, R.I.P ......Derek Oram Shemluk - Posted by: Derek Shemluk (Friend, brother, graduated with Chris in 2097) on: Nov 14, 2023

  • Christopher, our hearts still ache for you now 5 years after you left. We cherish those good days shared and accept that those hard days are behind you forever. Prayers for your eternal peace and sharing love with your Dad (Randy) whom followed you tragically in 2016. We miss you both. - Posted by: Laurie Jordan (Ffamily friend) on: Jun 24, 2020

  • (Not sure you'll get this as posting in April 2018 but thoughts are with you) Sorry to learn of the passing of Chris. My daughter, Chelsea Laycock was a friend of Chris' in grade school in Whyte ridge. Chris was a sweet boy. I just came across a photo I had of Chelsea's year book photo and Chris was beside her in next photo. About Gr. 8 I think(?). I am sad to share that Chelsea also passed away in car accident June 2017. Now the photo of them side by side moves me. Big hearts... That struggled in our world. Love to Chris' family and loved ones. - Marnie - Posted by: Marnie Laycock (Friend) on: Apr 28, 2018

  • Dearest Michelle and Randy, So very sorry to learn of your son's passing..... May his soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine upon him. - Posted by: Caren Thompson (Grand Cayman Acquaintance of Michelle and Randy ) on: Aug 26, 2015

  • My condolences to whole Johnson family, Dana, your parents and all of his close friends. I knew Chris all the way back from the Burlington Way days. Dana's little bro back then lol. Years later, we'd always see each other somewhere totally random, always a few years apart but every time, it was always good to see him. Literally seen him grow up so this was a big shock to hear about. Rest in Peace Chris. Can't believe it DJ - Posted by: DJ Brotherson (Old friend) on: Jul 03, 2015

  • God speed my friend and co-worker, I hope to manage the Winnipeg depot half as well and with as much passion as you have. I'm very sorry I could not have done more for you. - Posted by: Christopher Hazlitt (Co-Worker @ TCS Winnipeg) on: Jun 30, 2015

  • We are so saddened that you lost hope and left us Christopher, we grieve with your loving family, friends and co-workers. It is heartbreaking; for me and so many you left behind. We are so sorry we could not heal your pain and that you and so many others with mental health issues continue to feel they battle this disease helplessly and in silence. We tried to support your needs, however this did not ease your suffering or convince you that illness can be managed and you could create the life you desired; living " finding joy, one day at a time". God called you home too soon and knows how hard you tried to "slay your dragons" and, you had accomplished so much over the past few years. We are so proud of your successes. "To err is human, to forgive divine". We love you son. Our spirits rejoice in the happy memories we have of times with you, the love you shared with many and your generous bear hugs. Your will was strong & admired by me, your smile shone brightly, your creativity challenging, making you unique and cherished in our world. Your good humor, antics and laughter will be missed every day by so many whom you touched in your short life. I pray for your peace, so now rest, laugh often, play more, share your love with the angels, protect us all and enjoy the wisdom the Lord will share with you in eternal paradise. God bless you son. You will live forever in my heart and April's & condolences from the Houston & Nesbitt families. - Posted by: Laurie Jordan (fondly known as "Auntie Laurie" all his life, as Mom's BFF) on: Jun 30, 2015

  • Chris and I shared many memories together. Full of laughter and happiness. He was a true friend. Not like those people who say they will do something then doesn't do it, he was always a good man, and always stuck to his word. My favorite memory with him has to be the day we went to toysRUs and played with all these children's toys! We then proceeded to get silly string and had a crazy silly string war in my car in the parking lot because we couldn't wait to get home! Ha ha Chris' laugh was infectious and he had so many talents. I'm honored that I was in his life and he helped me change mine for the better. Chris was a very smart man and he was in love with nature. Every time we would hang out it involved a walk outside or just something to do with the outdoors. I loved that about him. And I love Chris. He will always be in my heart and I will keep his memory alive in the many good times we have had together. It is still a shock and hard to accept he is gone. But he will never be forgotten. Rest in peace buddy, until we meet again.. My heart goes out to everyone Chris loved and his entire family and group of true friends. I am sending love and strength your way and thinking of you all at this difficult time. ❤️ - Posted by: Krista L (Friend) on: Jun 30, 2015
