Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Orest helped get me back on my feet again positively when going through dark times of the soul, and helped me see the weight and integrity of thoughts I had in dealing with life. He shared his time & resources generously with me, that I will always remember. - Posted by: Vince Davies (Friend / Aquaintance) on: Feb 14, 2016

  • I met Orest at Ted Motyka's dance studio about 15 years ago and for a brief time Rick and Orest both taught for Arthur Murray's dance studio in Winnipeg. Orest's love of dance was infectious. He encouraged everyone to get up and dance regardless of their ability and didn't hesitate to give people a quick lesson on the spot. While we haven't been part of the dance community for a few years, we enjoyed many wonderful evenings at the MBDIA events in Oak Bluff that Orest organized. We greatly appreciate the contribution Orest made to the Winnipeg dance community and his presence on the dance floor will be truly missed. - Posted by: Barb Unrau and Rick Edwards (Dance acquaintances and Arthur Murray dance instructor colleague (Rick)) on: Jul 10, 2015

  • I met Orest in 1959 at the old post office in Winnipeg. We both had to go there to mail parcels for our employers and we just got talking and remained friend until now. I moved to Vancouver in 1973 but anytime Orest was out here we would try and get together. My very best friend Murray Jolly was also involved in dance and he and Orest remained friends until Murray passed away in July 2010. Rest in peace my friend we had some superb times together. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Robert J. Hamilton (Friend since 1959) on: Jul 07, 2015

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Orest when I was 19. We remained close friends throughout his years. I was honoured when he accepted my request to be best man at my wedding many years ago. You will be dearly missed but will remain in spirit and memory. Until we meet again my dear friend... keep dancing and watch over us. - Posted by: Bill Mooney (Close long time friend.) on: Jul 07, 2015

  • I met Orest in 1977 as a fellow dance instructor. We kept in touch over the decades and he was a mentor of dance for both my wife and I. He has been a good friend through all that time until his passing. He had many talents...theatre, dance and Calligraphy are just a few. He will be missed by the many students he has had through the years. - Posted by: Chris Gaynor-Martens (Friend and fellow dance instructor ) on: Jul 04, 2015

  • Singing and dancing was his favourite pastime in the early years. He will always be remembered. - Posted by: Walter Antoniw (High School friend) on: Jul 04, 2015
