JOHN ROGOWSKI March 31, 1924 - July 3, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Rogowski on July 3, 2015 at the Deer Lodge Centre. He was predeceased by his wife Millicent; parents Ksenka and Joseph; siblings Fred, Steve, Harry, Alex, Elsie, Marko and John. He is survived by his son Joseph (Beverley); his daughter Irene Peterson (Brent); and grandchildren Jason (Monica), Elizabeth (Chris), Megan (Bradley), Kelly (Marty); and great-grandchildren Logan, Kaydance, Jaxson, Kaylyn, Madison, Cole and Zachary. Dad was born and raised on the family farm in Meleb Manitoba. Between June 8, 1943 and May 1, 1946 he was in active service with the Canadian Army at the rank of "Bombardier" serving along Canada's east coast and in the North Atlantic area. He was very proud of his military experience which carried with him for the rest of his life. While stationed in St. John's Newfoundland he met and married his wife Millicent (Clarke) on May 17, 1945. Subsequently dad returned to Manitoba and the family farm. Ultimately, he worked for the City of Winnipeg in the Works and Operations Department until retirement in 1989. Over the last years his health deteriorated and he suffered a debilitating stroke in January, 2014. Dad spent the remainder of his life in the care of the staff at the Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg. Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff for their wonderful care and compassion to our father and to our family during his residency. A service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 4000 Portage Ave., Friday July 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Hi, Jo: My sincerest condolences to you and to your family on the loss of your papa. It has been a long time but I worked with you at the old Metro Corp of Gtr Wpg back in the day. Remember the bird experience whilst lunching at the Ft. Garry Gate one day? I didn't think you'd stop laughing!!
