BARBARA PEARCE 1953 - 2015 On July 6, 2015 our Wonderful Friend, Sister and Aunt, Barbara Jean Pearce, peacefully left our world. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Ruth Pearce. She is survived by her sister Diana, brother Roger (Lisa) and her niece Jillian. Barb taught music for 36 years. Beginning her teaching career in Stonewall, MB she taught in many schools all across Winnipeg, the majority being in Division One. Her schools included Queenston, Rockwood, Faraday, Lord Selkirk, Norquay, Luxton, Laura Secord, George V, David Livingstone, Weston and John Dafoe. Barb was most recently employed at Prairie Rose and Kent Road School where she greatly enjoyed teaching her many elementary students. Barb's passion for music was so very strong and her students meant the world to her. She was a tremendous positive influence to all of her students and she was a strong motivator and supporter to everyone. Her involvement with several musical festivals brought her choirs to achieve many Silver Awards and she recently received the Gold Metal Award for her School's Choir Performance. Barb's incredible musical talent resulted in a Rose Bowl Trophy, Lead roles in Rainbow Stage productions, Several First Place Vocal Competitions, City-Wide Performances along with being the lead vocalist at church choirs, weddings and several special functions. Her musical talent was beyond compare and she was adored and respected by everyone in the Musical Industry. Barb had the wonderful opportunity to visit Iceland and England but she mostly enjoyed her time at the Family cottage at Victoria Beach. She spent many summers there and she spoke so fondly of her many relaxing weekends and enjoyable visits with family and friends. Barb chose to have a beautiful Celebration of Life Gala on July 9 at the Metropolitan Centre to bring all of her friends and family together to enjoy happy memories and good times. She wanted to be remembered on a very happy, positive note and to see everyone having a great time in celebration of her life. This Celebration was a tremendous event and many positive memories were shared amongst so many loving guests. Barb's generosity was endless and her legacy will continue for many, many years to come. She has donated a large part of her estate to the Winnipeg Foundation which helps fund all forms of cultural venues in arts and music and she will be a huge partner and contributor to helping so many children and adults pursue their dreams in music through her donation to many scholarships, bursaries and special funding. Barb wanted to fulfill the dreams of others and help make their dreams a reality. That was what Barb was all about, she had one of the kindest souls and the biggest heart. Always ready to help out anyone who needed help and support. Barb also has chosen to support many other wonderful funds such as city shelters and the Humane Society. Barb's love for animals was tremendous and she loved her special dog, Mercy, and Mercy equally adored her. Barb had so many loving friends and was very well known for her generosity and positive personality. She had the amazing ability to light up any room she walked into and always brought a smile to everyone in her presence. Her wonderful personality, charming sense of humor, incredible talent and unconditional love and support will be so hugely missed by us all. Barb wished to thank all the kind healthcare staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for the loving care and support they provided. She was hugely appreciative. She also wanted to thank all the many friends who visited her during her times of need. She greatly appreciated each and every smile that came through her door and it helped to keep her spirits up and gave her much daily strength. A graveside service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. This is open to all family and friends who wish to attend. Condolences & Memories (15 entries)

  • I might be late but she was my favourite teacher, she always put me in front when she got us to sing “Lean on Me” while she played piano, after she passed Kent Road was not the same. I will forever miss her. - Posted by: em (student) on: Sep 21, 2024

  • I don't know where to start, I was at school for the first couple days, and my teacher announced, that she had passed, I was... Speechless, I was heartbroken, I knew her as a kind, respecting and friendly teacher, she inspired me towards music, nowadays, I just wake up, prepare my mic, and start recording. Without her, I wouldn't have got into music and learning. On the other side, I also enjoyed her classes, she was the sweetest teacher, and it's hard to even write this, it may be late, but I never got the chance to share this, it just... Hurts to say the least, I honestly, am heartbroken. And wishes to her family and friends, Rest In Peace, You were my inspiration. I will miss you. :( - Posted by: Zaine Moar (Student) on: Oct 09, 2020

P.A.G (performing arts group) at lunch, performing at kildonan place every year at Christmas, and Honor Choir. I remember watching and singing to the phantom of the opera and Cats.
