LYDIA MALKOSKE (nee NOEL) December 20, 1918 - July 1, 2015 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother, Lydia Malkoske, on Wednesday, July 1 at Whitemouth Personal Care Home. Mom was born in Seven Sisters Falls and spent her entire life in the Whitemouth area. She was raised on the family farm and thoroughly enjoyed farming life. As a young woman, she worked briefly in Winnipeg and at the Whitemouth Hotel. After marrying Adolph on November 8, 1941, they continued to farm and she became a homemaker and avid gardener. People would make a special trip to see her amazing yard with all the beautiful flowers and perfectly manicured trees. Once retired, she became a dedicated quilter. She donated many of her unique quilts, made on her treadle sewing machine, to Canadian Lutheran World Relief and Agape Centre in Steinbach. Lydia loved handicrafts such as crocheting, knitting, sewing, and carding and spinning wool. She used her many talents to generously give to family, friends and anyone in need. After moving to Riverbend Manor, with her eyesight failing, jigsaw puzzles became a favourite pastime. Lydia's memory will be honoured by her daughter Vivian (Melvin) Oswald and her son Donald (Shannon) Malkoske; grandchildren: Monica Anderson (Bruce Perron), Lynda Simard, Kerry (Bruce) Anderson, Ken (Dawn) Malkoske; great-grandchildren: Jade and Jasmine Anderson; Scott and Alex Simard; Bryce, Kolby, and Bodyn Anderson; Lukas Malkoske. Lydia is remembered by her brother Rudy Noel and sisters-in-law, Mima Noel, Marie Malkoske and Alice Malkoske, along with many nieces and nephews. Lydia was predeceased by her husband Adolph; son-in-law Ron Dubinski; sisters, Minnie (Ed) Liske and Tillie (Fred) Malkoske; brothers, Bill (Bea) Noel, Henry (Louise) Noel, Gus (Jutta) Noel and Edward Noel; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Noel, Elsie (Adolf) Gesell; brothers-in-law, Henry Malkoske and Rudy Malkoske. A celebration of Lydia's life will be held at the Oldenburg Cemetery on July 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Coffee and dainties will be served at Whitemouth Community Centre following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oldenburg Cemetery, of which Lydia was the caretaker for 25 years, in care of Redeemer Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 277, Whitemouth, MB R0E 2G0.
