FLORENCE AGNES IDA PRICE February 2, 1922 - July 10, 2015 It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Florence Price on July 10, 2015 at the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba Florence Agnes Ida Price was delivered by a midwife in the farmhouse at Scotch Bay Manitoba, in the Rural Municipality of Eriksdale on February 2, 1922. She was the first born and last surviving child of Cecil Victor Price (1896-1967) and Florence Catherine Isabel Blue (1899-1969). Florence grew up in the Interlake and attended the one-room schoolhouse in Scotch Bay. She later worked as a housekeeper in St. Claude and Elm Creek. At the age of 22 Florence enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces as a member of the C.W.A.C. (Canadian Women's Army Corps) during the Second World War. She was a Lance/Corporal in the army from May 1944 to August 1946 and served both in Canada and the UK. She often talked about the camaraderie, the opportunity to travel, and her term at reading tea leaves. Upon her discharge from the military, Florence worked in Winnipeg at the United Cigar Store until retirement. She was always known for her big heart and ability to make everyone feel welcome in her home. In her company, one could find safety, love, respect and laughter. There was nothing she loved more than a day of working in the garden, followed by a visit from family and friends, with storytelling over a good cup a tea. In addition to the visits in person, she maintained a phenomenal practice of letter and card writing. Florence was predeceased all of her siblings including her two sisters Gladys (1963) and Lillian (2010); and three brothers, Evans (1974), George (1988), and Victor (2015). Her long time life partner, Henry Wagner passed June 1, 1979. She is lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Honouring Florence's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. (across from Brookside Cemetery) with Reverend Bill Watson officiating. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish, please join us in making a donation in Florence's honour to the Eriksdale Personal Care Home, P.O. Box 130, Eriksdale, Manitoba, R0C 0W0. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Henry for providing exceptional care and compassion for our Aunty Flo over many years.
