MAY BERNICE LEE (nee WEATHERBURN) Peacefully, on July 10, 2015 at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home, May Lee, aged 94 years, passed away. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, son Earl (Linda) and daughters, Eileen and Connie; grandchildren, Jerome (Maria), Kenneth, David (Nicole), Jim (Jacalyn), Scott (Jackie), Lisa (Danny), Darryl (Alex), Jay (Marley), Tammy (Jason) and Richard; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Krystin, Matthew, Ryan, Matthew, Rayna, Devon, Brock, Drake, Thomas, Jesse, Draden, Lateesha, Araina, Kai, Sloan and Mats. May is predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and William Weatherburn; husband Matt; sons, Kenneth and Allen; twin brother Jim; sister Elsie; son-in-law Ben Gleich; great-grandson Brody Gleich. May was born on November 2, 1920 in Brandon, MB. She married Tom Seymour and had five children. In 1959, she married Matt Lee and farmed in the Scotch Bay area all their years together. She was always interested in all the aspects of farming, watched the evening news, wanting to make sure she never missed the weather, hoping it would make all the farmers happy. After Matt's passing, May moved the farm house into the town of Eriksdale. She lived there until moving to the Friendly Villa in 2000, then she moved into the Eriksdale Personal Care Home in 2014. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, decoupage and quilting. She quilted for all the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and even for the unborn ones. May had a vegetable garden every year that she took great pride in. She also had many flowers outside and plants inside. She was an avid baker and made the best bread and buns in the country. In fact, she was making bread right up until 2014. May was the greatest grandmother in the world. She spent many hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished time spent with these children, as they were the light of her life. Together they spent many hours baking, May loved finding small treasures for them all, tended to their needs and cared for them. She touched the hearts of each and every one of them. May was a dog admirer. She often spoke of the dogs she had in the past but her latest dog Princess was "the best dog in the world", according to May. Princess is now 14 years old. May was a member of the Clydebank Ladies her entire life. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Eriksdale Recreation Centre with Reverend David Fielder officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service in the hall. Interment to follow in the Lily Bay (St. Cuthbert) Cemetery. Lunch will be held in the hall following the service. Pallbearers will be David, Jim, Jerome, Scott, Darryl, Richard, Jay and Kenneth. Thank you to all the doctors and staff at the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital and Eriksdale Personal Care Home for the help and support over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital Guild, in care of Irene Sigurdson, P.O. Box 474, Eriksdale, Manitoba R0C 0W0. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOME Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072 1-866-323-3593

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Our condolences to the family. I remember staying at her home during the summer holidays and having a great time. She was able to put a meal on the table in minutes for drop in visitors. It wasn't fancy but it sure was delicious. - Posted by: Julius and Joyce Pachkowsky (Niece (she married Matt Lee my uncle)) on: Oct 26, 2015

  • Connie, Eileen and all of May's Family. We were so sorry to hear from Edna that your Mother had passed away. Rob and I visited briefly with her last April when we had a quick trip to the Interlake. She was her usual friendly self as I will always remember her. May was a wonderful hostess and a cup of tea and home made goodies were always produced when we would drop in for a visit. Certainly I'll always remember the Lundar reunion back around 1987, when May had my Mother, Mary (Windross) Webb, two cousins from B.C. and myself, stay for the weekend. What fun we all had, just like a PJ party! Sending our love and sympathy to you all. May lived a long life and we will definitely remember her. - Posted by: Frances (Webb) Cook - from Ontario. • Remembering summers at the Lee farm and how hard Auntie Mae worked especially around haying time, getting our butts down to the barn for milking @ 6:00 making breakfast for at least nine, bringing out hot meal at noon then milking , then supper. • Family My condolences on the loss of your Mother, Grandmother, Great & Great Great grand mother. My favorite remembrance will be seeing May on her scooter uptown. She always spoke kindly, even if it was only about the weather. She was a great age but it still hurts like hell to loose a Mother. Take Care All. - Posted by: J E Sewell (family friend) on: Jul 14, 2015
