SHAWN TREVOR SNIDAL 1970 - 2015 It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden and untimely passing of Shawn Trevor Snidal at the age of 45 on July 10, 2015. Shawn resided with his family in West St. Paul, MB. He is survived by his wife Louise, son Mason, and two dogs Sawyer and Huck; parents Brian and Margaret; brother Aaron (Tracy), Stella and Thor; brother Vernon; father-in-law Zisca Singha; sister-in-law Tabitha (Glen) Taylor, Reed (Jeremy), sister-in-law Milka (Drew); brother-in-law Raj (Sheri), Mia, Nicholas, Jaya, and countless aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, mother-in-law Tahira Singha, Auntie Darlene, Auntie Gail, and sister-in-law Jenaya. Shawn was born in Lynn Lake, MB on June 30, 1970. He lived in Lynn Lake, Leaf Rapids, Grand Rapids, and Steep Rock during his school years. He was very good at sports but not so good at sportsmanship (he must have the "Mason" Syndrome). After high school Shawn attended Red River College where he studied masonry and cabinet making. As much as this was his passion, he needed full time employment and on April 9, 1990, Shawn started an apprenticeship program with Manitoba Hydro. Four years later he earned his power electrician ticket and eventually became Senior Technician in Electrical Construction and held a Certificate in Management. Shawn worked throughout the north and was also stationed in southern Manitoba. In April 2015 Shawn was recognized for his 25 years of service. While working in Thompson, he met and fell in love with his best friend, Louise, who he pursued for five years before she finally relented and married him August 14, 2002. A miracle came into their lives in September 2012 with the arrival of their son Mason. He is daddy's pride and joy and Shawn always calls him his "little man". Shawn loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing and looked forward to his annual moose hunting trip with his dad, brothers and friend Don Smith. He was a certified open water and under ice scuba diver. He was an accomplished chef and always the consummate host. For the past three years Shawn has spent countless hours at the lake on his pontoon boat, sipping rum, atv-ing and just having fun with his family and lake friends. A memorial service celebrating Shawn's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. Service to conclude at Glen Eden with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenedenmemorial.ca Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111

  • Brian, Marg, Aaron, Vernon and families our hearts go out to you on the loss of your son & brother Shawn. When we lived in Grand Rapids our families grew very close and Shawn was like one of my own children. I remember the trips to the cabin on Honeymoon lake both winter and summer and the fun the boys had. After Shawn joined Hydro I would run into him periodically at meetings, site visits or even in my travels. Donnie, Jeff and Sheri were devastated when I told them of his passing. I know words can never express the loss you are feeling and the emptiness that accompanies it, but the memories you have will be with you forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Don Thomson (Family friend and co-worker) on: Jul 15, 2015
