SUSAN CHARLOTTE WARD (nee HUNT) Sadly, on July 4, 2015, Susan Charlotte (Hunt) Ward passed away in St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 73, leaving her loving and caring husband C. (Charles) Garnet; two children, Ray and Charlene (Manuel); five grandsons, Steven, Nick, Bryce, Taylor and Alex; brother Barry (Susan), to mourn her death and celebrate her life. Susan was born in Winnipeg on December 5, 1941. She was predeceased by her parents, Sydney Fredrick Hunt and Eva Mae (Mansfield); all of her aunts and uncles; and cousins, Graham Faill and Barbara Hogan. She is survived by cousins, Patricia, Iris, Arlene, Lorna, Tom and Janice. As a teanager, Susan went to Regents Park United Church, where she went to CGIT, became a CGIT leader and later joined the Young Peoples group, where she met her future husband. Susan went to Teachers College and taught special needs children for two years in St. Vital; something she really enjoyed. After dating for several years, she married the love of her life on July 28, 1961. Her primary goals in life were to be a good wife and a good mother. In addition to raising a family and supporting her husband, Susan enjoyed many hobbies, travelling and cooking. She was widely known for her tasty and beautifully arranged dinner parties. When the children were older, she worked for a while as a teacher's assistant at J. H. Bruns Collegiate where her industry was greatly appreciated. After her husband retired, she enjoyed exploring Texas and nearby states in their trailer. The two travelled many back roads looking for birds and flowers to photograph and each summer they would regail family and friends with a slide show of their adventures, followed of course, by delicious food. Later in life, health issues slowed her down a bit, but never dampened her spirit. She continued to enjoy friendships that began many years ago. She will be greatly missed. The funeral and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 21 in Windsor Park United Church at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
