Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN PITRE On July 14, 2015, Jean Pitre passed away peacefully at Arborg Personal Care Home at the age of 92. Jean is survived by daughters Florence Stanowski (Jack) and Janice Hornick (Ken), her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who fondly called her Granny.' She was predeceased by her husband Ben Pitre, and her brother Peter Fawcett. Jean was born in Stirling, Scotland on October 16, 1922 and immigrated to Canada in 1954. Prior to moving to Canada, Jean served in the British Army during the Second World War as a munitions clerk and lived through the London Blitz. In 1956, Jean married Ben Pitre. For over 50 years, they lived in the Transcona neighbourhood of Winnipeg. Following Ben's passing, Jean ultimately moved to the Arborg Personal Care Home where she received excellent care from the staff. Jean was a caring and generous woman who was happiest sipping a cup of tea, reading the newspaper or spending time with family and friends. An interment will be held in the coming weeks.
